It's the world vs IowaSeriously? Why do all of our higher seeded wrestlers get first round byes except for Stoll?
No doubt about it. We got jobbed big time. Three studs all get byes. It's the world vs Iowa
Beating Abidin would get him into the 5th place match, I believe the top 7 qualify at this weight.I think Brody will qualify. Will need to beat Abidin on the backside though.
Rhoads will need 6th to make it. Going to be tough.Rhoads will likely have to beat Welch of Purdue to get into the 5th place match, but IMO I think he's at least a lock for 7th place match.
I believe Paddock was the one who faced Welch in the dual. Hopefully Rhoads wrestles like he has nothing to lose, and goes out with confidence, then he can qualify. But I agree, its going to be very tough.Rhoads will need 6th to make it. Going to be tough.
Honestly looking through the 141 bracket, we could potentially have a Grothus vs Gulibon 7th place match if you look at how the matches fall. There are only 7 slots allocated to this weight class correct? Could be a good opportunity to knock Gulibon out of the tournament.
With Thielke from Wisconsin getting an at large bid last year with a below .500 record, nothing would surprise me anymore. With our luck, if JG doesn't finish in the top 7, he'll probably get an at large bid with a decent seed at nationals.......
I am surprised by the reactions. Other than Gilman and Brooks with byes, I like the draws.
Stoll - Dec and then I think he MFFs out. Dont think with a legit opponent in Jensen they want to risk it. He will get wildcard
Hope Stoll can go. He would likely get a pin in the first match then a win over Jensen who is also banged up. Then MFF out.
Ryan is 2nd round, then Nolf is next.My thoughts (including bonus pt potential):
Cooper - Like his draw, gets a PIN to start, then loses to Nolf, follows that up with a Major and two decisions to get to 3rd place match but loses - 4th
I'd love to see that!Meyer - Bye, Major, Dec and then loses in final - 2nd
Meyer Majored Wanzek in the dual and TF'd Sliga in the dual this season. Very well could happen, especially on his home court.I'd love to see that!
