I didn't believe that such a highly touted Northwestern team could possibly struggle to a 2-point victory over Loyola-Marymount. So I Googled and was relieved to discover they actually won by 4 points, 79-75.

You are correct...official box score shows 79-75. I pulled scores of ESPN and they had 77-75 as the score.

I think Northwestern having to play at the Allstate Arena instead of Welsh Ryan this year is going to hurt them a bit. They lose their cozy home court advantage. That said, I think they still return to the dance.

Shocked that the Mighty Hoosiers gave up 90 on their home court to Indiana State. I knew they were rebuilding, but things might be worse in Bloomington than I thought.

Is it to late to Crean their roster? Or does crean actually have to be around for that?

Interesting nugget (wayyyy too early but i like simulators) is that Iowa going 21-10 winning games they are projected to win and losing games they are projected to lose puts them at an RPI of 41 with SOS of 82..

Thanks once again Alum-NI. Same Time Again Next Year with you doing this for everyone here. I really appreciate and look forward to your thread every year. It is my first go to thread once the college/B1G basketball season starts.... again, thanks.

Haha, I was told Nebraska would be good this year. Only won by 4

Eastern Illinois also beat Illinois in a secret scrimmage that couldn't have been too secret because the people here in Charleston were having a good old laugh! :) Hmmmmmm, should I make the new "local" team a secondary favorite? Nahh..yeah..why not? Advice?

It is interesting. I think we'll improve on that, even if it requires Fran's high blood pressure meds be increased, j/k. But I just watched Crispin give us some love. He's picking us to make the NCAA's and be possibly a sweet 16 team.

So Indiana isn't good- at least yet. Bummed to see Indiana pull off the win. When I was watching they were 0-7 from the ft line with around 5 to go in the 1st half.

Kentucky beat Vermont by 4. Therefore, they are not good.

Some fans get a little carried away by these early season games.

You know Kentucky will be fine at the end of the year but they also were down to Utah Valley at half and had to scrape together that first win as well. Suppose that's growing pains with a new team every year.

both Illinoise & Indiana have a ways to go before they figure out its not a 1 on 1 game...its 5 on 5. Hopefully Indiana hasnt figured it out when we come calling in December.

I agree 100%......there is clearly some talent and athleticism on that Indiana team. Offensively they are not close to being on the same page.....defensively, they look like they are giving effort. After watching the first half of that game yesterday I can see where they could be pretty salty later in the year.

I haven't seen any of Illinois yet.

I watched Illinoise...Mark Smith made some bone head moves..I will say opposed to Groce (who would have been clapping)...Underwood pulled him...I do think Underwood is a coach...opposed to being a cheerleader.

Illinois has some talented guards but they are very young. They are going to make mistakes. They have zero front line talent or depth. Thy were up 20 on UTM with 3 min left and almost let them tie it up at the buzzer.

They might not win a B1G ten game.

They beat Southern 102-55 for what it's worth....

its early...they will win some B1G games..and yes front line a big ?

I don't think there's one BIG MBB team that will go though the 18 game schedule without a win...by the end of the non-conference schedule the Big Ten will be the best conference in the country from top to bottom....Rutgers, Nebraska, Illinois, Ohio State, Penn St, & Indiana, will prove that you won't be able to skate through the conference without playing your best. I'm guessing the worst team will at least win 4 or 5 conference games...

Northwestern is starting a little shaky. They’ve got like 5 and 7 points from their bench the first two games. No depth at all. They may tire down the stretch and their starters better not get hurt.

They're a good team with enough pieces to contend...just think that they lack depth on the front line and if Pardon gets hurt or in foul trouble they may suffer a little, plus they won't sneak up on anyone this year. Have a real chance to make back to back NCAA appearances.....

I don't think this improved Big Ten is getting the clothes clean.

Ingredient X might just be a marketing ploy.

For those that didn't see - Tony Carr injured his ankle against Montana. Still no update on severity, but could have an impact on our first B1G game on 12/2.

How odd to see Wisconsin at 3-4. Not a good record but they've lost to 4 ranked teams.
