The program has to decide whether the priority is Big Ten wins or advancing in the tournament. As of now the current style of play and recruiting strategy favors the Big Ten but something that is blatantly obvious on these teams that advance is guard play and athleticism. The advancing teams go 6-7 deep with athletic guards that can get the hoop and guard people. Something Iowa hasn’t been able to do in a decade.

My take is all the B1G coaches are not getting it done---collectively they are averaging probably $3.5 million in compensation/yr. What are these mid major coaches making?

Maybe you don't win the B1G title with a smaller/athletic team, but you do compete a lot better in NCAA tourney. After 43 years, we Iowa fans can pretty much give up any hope of regular season conference title. Getting an NcAA ready team would be more enjoyable for me.

The fact that B1G is lagging in Portal talent acquisition is a big problem. It also pretty rare to see an international player in B1G. FAU had some 7'1 Russian...Gonzaga is always getting overseas guys....Rebracca is European, but we plucked him from Summit league in N. Dakota, not like we were on to him early. I don't know if it is AD's reluctance to take character risks in Portal, lagging NIL program, and too high admission standards, but B1G is not getting it done on the court.

Watching the B1G fall embarrassingly flat once again should bring about a lot of changes.
