Of the double bye teams, here are the round robin records so far:
Michigan St.: 1-0
Illinois: 0-3
Maryland: 2-1
Iowa: 2-1

Really interesting that Michigan St. has only played one of its main competition (beating Illinois) while Maryland and Iowa are both 2-1 against this group.

Edit:
And records against the bottom 4:
Michigan St.: 3-0
Illinois: 3-0
Maryland: 2-0
Iowa: 2-2

Your Edit column is why Iowa is NOT in 1st.....

Meh, the Nebraska loss will be a stain, but the Michigan loss is the double-edged sword you get with this current goofy spread out conference scheduling.

We got Michigan back when they were clicking and coming off a win over Gonzaga. Everyone that's facing them now is getting a shell of that team.......

I say this wedding is horsesh**!!!

It really comes down to Michigan having Livers in the lineup or not. Before he got hurt, they were quite good. Not good since he got hurt. They did get a good win in NYC over Rutgers, but if and until Livers is back they will be only so-so. Losing at Michigan will not be a bad loss.

I thought at the beginning of the season, Iowa would be playing on day one of the tournament, not day three.

Michigan State plays five top 25 teams in its next six games. Brutal stretch for them. Illinois and Maryland have tough four-game schedules coming, too. Iowa can make up some ground if they can hold court and figure out how to poach a couple on the road against teams they should beat (Purdue and Indiana).

As of now, with the brackets the way they are, the #4 seed looks like it has an easier go of it than the #2 and #3 seeds.

No necessarily how good the B10 is, but more so how solid of a non-conference schedule Ohio St had.

For an AP voter to give the Ohio St a vote at this point is pure laziness.

QUOTE="Chishawk1425, post: 7362044, member: 102113"]And they are receiving AP votes and still in the NCAA tourney, that is insane how good the BIG is and also how much cannibalizing it is doing of itself.[/QUOTE]

If this holds up, and that won't be easy to do, you would think that Coach McCaffery would be getting some mention for B1G COY like Underwood and Pikiell are. We weren't exactly picked to tear through the conference this season.

If MSU is the #1 seed, we need to be at least #3 to be on the other side of the bracket because MSU's a really bad match-up for Iowa. Unless we shoot lights-out and score 90 points or something, I don't see how we beat that team.

I don't watch much outside of Iowa, but I think I'd rather be in MD or IL shoes. I can't imagine them being any harder to beat than MSU and I'd rather play psu/wi instead of RU.

I don't know about playing Penn State rather than Rutgers. Penn State's on a hot streak right now and has already beaten Iowa. In a way, there's not much difference between being #1, #2, #3 or #4 this year. The biggest deal is making sure Iowa is one of the top 4 so it gets a double bye so, yeah, win as many games as possible to make sure that happens.

I didn't think it would be that bad, but thought the ceiling for this team was probably the bubble. Just had too many questions coming into the year for me to be comfortable, and then after effectively losing 3 players for the year, Pemsl is a shadow of himself.

I'm genuinely interested to see what the lineup is like next year, with injured players coming back + 5 incoming freshmen - any possible transfers = ?

sparty is highly vulnerable this year. They seem to depend on Winston being spectacular too much. They are weaker up front than usual; no one comparable to what ward gave them last year.

While I like your general thesis, not sure how you can claim that the Hawks "should beat Purdue" when they are 4 point dogs? There are factors related to home court advantage that are in Purdue's favor tonight, and if the Hawks can pull out a victory they will indeed have poached it.

Good points. I just meant based on NET rankings. But, yeah, Purdue is a different team at home. If they had home-and-away NET rankings that would be interesting.

I might have to start looking at flights to Indianapolis.

I do it to myself every time Iowa gets on a roll like this for the Big Ten tournament. Book hotels, flights, etc....and bad things happen. Not jinxing the Hawks again. I’ll wait for 1 week away to start booking

If Pemsl comes back there won't be any scholarships available. I kind of wonder if PMac will ever be able to play significant time because of the illnesses related to his cancer. I really hope so, the kid has great natural talent and really deserves to have good things happen for him. You just never know, though.

Right, I meant to say whether or not any of our current players were to transfer out. Given all the returning/incoming players, I don't see a need to accept a transfer like Bakari for next year. I won't be surprised if both of the Murray twins were to redshirt.

That's a good point. You never know about attrition after the season's over. I certainly could see a C/PF transfer if Pemsl decided to end his basketball career.
