If Michigan could stay within 6 points of South Carolina, we all can do it!

Syla Swords scored 27 points for Michigan. This year's front runner for freshman of the year maybe? On the other hand, Olivia Olson only scored 5 points.

So far, I haven't seen anything to scare the Iowa woman away from rubbing elbows with the top tier. Key words being "so far."
Counting on Syd and Hannah being at full health and for 2 frosh to step up like Teagan and Ava for that to be possible which does seem like a possibility.
Inexperience and a new head coach with her tweaked system are going to be the wildcards. Although, expecting Jan to be on par with Lisa with all the years they spent together and hopefully even better.

Olivia Olson went 2-12 from the field.
Michigan shot 31.0% overall and 30.8% from 3.
South Caroline shot 33.3% overall and 19.2% from 3.
That sounds like both teams were full of froshies or they're both defensive stalwarts.

All I know is that watching the NCAAW games yesterday was such a distinct difference from the game played in the WNBA. And by "difference" I mean exponentially better. I can't be the only one noticing this after the summer experiment watching the WNBA. Not sure the W will get this figured out, so it's nice to be back with the game I prefer.

On a side note regarding the South Carolina vs Michigan game...supposedly one of SC's best returning players is suspended indefinitely for beating someone up last summer. Charged with assault.

Yes, you are correct. However, Ashlyn Watkins most likely back sooner rather than later according to this report today that doesn't play in our favor.

Charges dismissed against South Carolina women's basketball star - 11/5/24
"Per Richland County court records, South Carolina women’s basketball star Ashlyn Watkins has had charges stemming from her August arrest dismissed. In fact, her entire case (first-degree assault and battery and kidnapping) is dismissed. "

So, some big booster got involved?

Have a feeling you're on to something here and/or maybe just another avenue for NIL to get involved? It really is pay to play, right?

Seems like the Michigan game gave them a scare and they said we need to move on this pronto. Botta bing, botta boom!

Oregon pulls the upset over Baylor.. could keep Iowa out of the top25.

If Illinois, South Dakota St, and Oregon jump Iowa.

Just guessing that 2 out of 3 ain't bad here.

Oregon and Illinois seem very likely to enter the Top 25.

SD St. beat a #21 so that one seems less likely coz they moved from #62 to #58 after that victory.
SD St. is one position ahead of VA Tech #59 now.
I would be a little shocked if SD St. entered it before us on this next ranking.

Seems we should get to #25 at a minimum or there could be other team(s) that stay ahead of us who don't fully drop out and then we also won't make it in.

Or just wait until they beat Tennessee and ISU in December!
Iowa has so many interesting games on the schedule this year.

Toledo and Northern Illinois are the only cupcake-ish teams they play.. maybe Rhode Island but non of those are crazy bad teams.

All 3 in state games will offer a challenge like they usually do. Obviously Iowa State will be the biggest test.

We already had VT but will also play BYU, Tennessee, Kansas, and Washington State.

Then playing Oregon, Washington, UCLA, and USC at home for the first time as Big Ten opponents.

Not really a direct response to your response, just pointing out the lack of a soft landing for this team that is trying to discover themselves. Should be fun to see unfold!!
