Does Iowa retain a top 4 seed in the tourney if OSU wins and Iowa were to lose. We would be tied with them in conf standings.

would much rather be #3 seed and not the #4. Bottom half the bracket is easier. Keep Michigan, Purdue and fOSU in the other half.

Sorry we need ILL to win for a double buy
or us to beat WI

still really hard to cheer for them

I beg to differ. A lot.

OSU is tougher matchup on Friday than 'consin.

Also, if win, would 99.99% likely get Michigan on Saturday instead of ILL or MD.

No. Hawks better win tomorrow if they want the best shot to reach the BTT final next Sunday.
Meh... doesn’t matter in terms of NCAA seeding.

I honestly could care less who wins the BTT.

It’s bullsh*t.

Glad the Illini won to take most of the pressure off for the B10. I remember all too well how they looked against PSU with the pressure of getting Luka the scoring record hanging over them, so they should be relatively loose tomorrow as they were Thursday. Plus they can give CJF more time to heal for the tournament assuming he was considered borderline.

You’re CRAZY! Winning the BTT could bump Iowa to a #1 seed. Beat Wisky on Sunday, beat them again on Friday ( kNebby vs Ped St winner) verses Wisky is Wisky. Then get winner of Illinois vs Ind/Mary). Sunday for the BTT title.

If a 1-seed wasn't possibly on the line for Iowa, I wouldn't care so much either.

But have to win tomorrow before start really getting hopes up for a BTT run plus an early ILL exit.

No it couldn’t. Illinois has a #1 seed locked up. They beat us head to head have more quad 1 wins etc.

There’s no scenario where Iowa gets a 1 seed now.

Beating Wisconsin 2x, Illinois, and then Michigan would give us more quad 1 wins than them and we would have defeated 2 currently projected 1 seeds in that sequence. We absolutely have to win the BTT and against those opponents (can't have any upsets), but it's still possible.

not much diff between 3 or 4.
I know it's subjective, but I'd say that's about as inaccurate a statement that could be made about this year's BTT.

Top half of the bracket will have Michigan, Ohio St, Michigan St, Rutgers.
Bottom half will have Wisconsin, Maryland, Penn St, Nebraska. Illinois probably the only team that could beat us.

Very little difference between 2 and 3 seed, but 4 seed would make a much tougher road to advancing...

Beating Wisconsin at home means dick at this point other than a Q1 win. Both Michigan and Illinois beat us in the regular season. Even if it all goes as you planned (it won’t), we’re not jumping either of those teams on the Sunday that seeds are selected. It just isn’t going to happen.

Just stop. A #2 seed is freaking incredible.

Last year was my first submitting a bracket to bracketmatrix.com. I finished above average but so much so that I stood out. The biggest mistake I made was overvaluing conference tournament results. They don’t matter nearly as much as one would think.

lol

First of all. That won’t be set until tomorrow. Second, yeah. Only Illinois can beat us. smh
You haven’t been paying attention. ANY of those teams could beat us.

Agree. No chance Iowa gets a 1. A 2 is just fine.

Beating Wisconsin tomorrow gives us the #3 seed in the B1G tournament. Tomorrow's game means a lot.

Crazy league. Might end up a 4 seed in the BTT yet a 2 seed in the Big Dance.
Well, to be fair there are A LOT more spots to seed in the field of 64+4. Currently I think we are at 7 in the seeding so the second to last 2 seed. Obviously there are three teams ahead of us in the BIG in that top 8, so as you said crazy league to be sure.

Well maybe, but after watching that game Thursday, we'd really have to play like crap to lose to THAT Nebraska team......

Of course any team can beat any team at a given time, but if you think advancing in the top half of the bracket will be as easy as the bottom half, then you're the one who hasn't been paying attention.

You are underestimating us. We would have split with Illinois and if we win it all we would have beaten Michigan which is Illinois best win... if we beat them and Michigan it is a very tough call who they would take. It is far from a given they would give it to Illinois. Now making this happen will be tough and is most likely moot but if it were to happen it wouldn't surprise me if we received the 1 seed.

This happens every year on this board and the twitter verse. Strong pull of recency bias and viewing the conference tournament in a vacuum as opposed to the overall resume.

A lot of crazy sh!t would have to happen to jump Illinois at this point.

I do think a win tomorrow solidifies a 2 seed for us though.

If Iowa finishes 4-0 and beats Illinois and Michigan to win the BTT, I would love to hear the Committee explain why Illinois got a #1 seed instead of Iowa. Iowa would finish 23-7 to Illinois 21-7, would be 1-1 vs. Illinois with the loss on the road and the win more recent and on a neutral court, would have just matched Illinois' best win of the year and, sitting NET 6, would likely the same number of Quad 1 wins, and would have just beaten NET 3 and NET 4 on consecutive days. They seriously gonna pull a "But Indiana 5 weeks ago..."?

On the other hand, I'm not as convinced as you are that Iowa would have a 2 seed locked up with a win over Wisky. I still think a clunker in the first BTT game could drop them to a 3, especially if Alabama, Villanova and Fla St win their conference tournaments.

Villanova is cooked with Gillespie out ... and they just lost again. Fla St. just lost recently as well.
