What is up with you people?

A birthday notification pops up. Everyone starts wishing the person Happy Birthday!

A day or two later, birthday person posts a message about how he/she can't express enough gratitude to all the people who thought of him/her on their birthday. Further adding that it meant the world to them and they're so fortunate to have them in their life.

It's as predicatble as the sun rising in the morning. It's like people copy and paste the same stupid shit every damn time.

Were gonna get invaded some day and it's gonna be stupid people like that at the root of the cause.

My favorite is the long, sappy posts on wedding anniversaries about how their spouse is just best, couldn't live this life without you, best father & husband in the world, can't want for the next 10 years together and what it will bring, blah blah blah.

All that crap is just cries for desperate affirmation.

If you need all the rando's telling you how lucky you are to have such a marriage, I about guarantee you that your marriage suuuuucks.

(I only have facebook because of marketplace.....i admittedly enjoy looking for random crap on there and actually have had quite a few successful transactions)

Looks like somebody, didn't get any birthday wishes today.

Yeah the worst part of creating a Facebook profile way back when was reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances. I mean, who wants that kind of positive crap?

Social media is so much better for arguing, calling people names and posting complete bullsheet. No question.

While OP is correct and the whole birthday thing is just kind of... bizarre, this right here is the one that really makes me shake my head anymore. The whole "Babe I love you so much. Life just wouldn't be the same, blah blah" It's like who ****ing cares and if you love him so much, why aren't you telling him and not us. So weird. I just scan right past those posts anymore.

Maybe I am weird but I am liking face book right now. Get to see who the trump supporting morons are. Guess what? It is exactly the kind of person you thought it was.

Some want a continuation of war.

Others want peace.

I fear that Northern is viewing warfare through the lens of a team sport. I believe that he views an end to the war with saying happy birthday as a failure. It's not. It's accepting reality.

LOL. I’m in my forties … I’m a couple decades too young to use Facebook. So I have no clue what OP is talking about.

it's stupid

by the way

I personally enjoy the people who celebrate their whole birthday week or birthday month. Luckily, I only have a fake Facebook account for access to marketplace so I don't see any of the drama there.

No Facebook or twitter for me anymore.

Blue Sky is my only social media account. Just grew to 32 million users.

It's definitely left leaning. I don't think it's as left as Truth Social is right, if that makes sense.

What do you do there? Sell it to me as though you'll get paid a commission.
It's a lot like twitter, but without all the anger and hate. Disagreements are legitimate discussions rather than troll fights. Mark Cuban is a big influencer. I follow him, along with a number of comedians (George Takai), a couple of legislators, and of course the Golden Retriever videos.

George Takai (Takei) is a comedian?

Meh I don't mind it. Most people I just see reply "thanks" to a happy birthday message.

And I don't have any problem with people celebrating their relationship openly. I find it weird that others do.

Does that always mean they are good? Nope but doesn't mean they are bad either.

Quite frankly when my wife and I where having the roughest years of our marriage she barely mentioned me on FB at all. Now she does on birthdays and anniversaries. I don't really make those posts cause they arn't really my style but I also like seeing openly that she's proud of me.

Honestly unless their spouse is old or terminal for some reason I would wonder why they were limiting themselves to only 10 years.

Truth Social is a grift. It's always been a grift. Twitter was a useful tool and entertainment platform, then Eloon dumped billions into it in order to swing an election and create an alternate reality. Let's see what Blue Sky turns into. It seems like it's on the right path.
