Edit: it appears that holding the blowout before a football game is the issue. This article from the Gazette (http://www.thegazette.com/subject/sports/black-and-gold-blowout-on-hiatus-20140923) sort of sums it up.

I believe it would really be a marketing mistake not to do something like that this year.

There is a lot of interest in seeing all the new players.
And in the team itself.

Next step in the progression is to get Carver back to a fun and hostile game experience for fans and opponents.

Why are we under the assumption that they aren't doing it?

I know they have done it in the past since Fran has been here.

I would actually prefer they do a Midnight Madness deal like they did when Alford got here. They gave away a car, a semester's tuition and had a bunch of prizes and it was all geared toward students. They probably packed in 10,000 students and it was a whale of a good time. The whole idea is to try and build student interest.

We are caught in this transition between lick and nationally recogognized, sold-out arena Fran ... It does no good from a recruiting standpoint to have a lame 1/2 empty venue when compared to sold out midnight madness elsewhere ... I bet this reincarnates as something else ...
