Activists with the Black Lives Matter movement rejected the Democratic Party's recent statement of support, making clear that they are not affiliated with any political party.

"A resolution signaling the Democratic National Committee's endorsement that Black lives matter, in no way implies an endorsement of the DNC by the Black Lives Matter Network, nor was it done in consultation with us," the Black Lives Matter Network wrote in a statement Sunday.

"We do not now, nor have we ever, endorsed or affiliated with the Democratic Party, or with any party. The Democratic Party, like the Republican and all political parties, have historically attempted to control or contain Black people's efforts to liberate ourselves," the statement continues. "True change requires real struggle, and that struggle will be in the streets and led by the people, not by a political party."

I'm not saying you or anyone else support these people but the fact remains heavy black turnout helped Obama win twice.

It will be interesting to see if they support the next Democrat nominee with as much fervor.
There is something tricky about this whole situation to be honest. The Republicans are gaining support from black America. It seems to be a coordinated effort and planned turnover to be honest. Strange.

Stealing this from Huey in the other thread. Blacks were voting Dem way before Obama ever showed up. Maybe more voted in the 2008 or 2012 elections than what is presented below but regardless, the black vote was always going Democrat regardless if there was a black man running for President or not. Anything else black related should be directed to Swag as he knows more about blacks than we do.

They really showed their intelligence in St Paul this weekend. Forgive if this doesn't go through as a link - I don't post enough to figure out how to put a link in:

http://www.startribune.com/police-u...-chant-at-black-lives-matter-march/323465911/

"....Titus was referring to a video posted on Twitter that showed protesters who appear to be at the front of the march carrying a banner and shouting, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon!” as the camera pans to show police on bikes, squad cars and a utility vehicle...."

They're rejecting endorsing any party, not rejecting the support of the Democratic Party. Nothing to see here.
I just find it curious that they're rejecting the party whom that modern thinking would have you believe that they would be very strong allies for their cause.
What do you suppose has caused their rejection of the DNC?

Best quote in the article:

"Resolutions without concrete change are just business as usual," the network's statement reads. "Promises are not policies."

Citation needed.
Look it up yourself. I definitely isn't coming from blacklivesmatter, but there is a sect of black Americans that are starting to show strong support for the GOP.
I don't agree with following either party, so it's not like I'm excited about that or anything. This rejection of the DNC would have been unthinkable a few years ago though.

The same reason the Black Panthers didn't choose a political affiliation. In their minds they are their own political party. Just because Fox tries to lump the two together doesn't make it true. Change the channel.

Um. No, there isn't, and no, it wouldn't.

Translation = I made a claim I can't support. Don't expect me to find support for it. If you are that interested go find the claim yourself.

Rinse and repeat for your "free thinking" threads.
Thinking this post from you looks a bit silly right now.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Long considered stalwarts for Democratic candidates in Illinois, are African Americans now turning on the party?

GOP Governor candidate Bruce Rauner is touting his support among influential black pastors in Chicago–including Corey Brooks and James Meeks–against Democrat Pat Quinn.

Now a video on You Tube appears to illustrate growing anger with Democrats at the state, local and national levels.

“We are always talking about what the Republicans haven’t done for us or what they will do to hurt us,” said activist Joseph Watkins, who was filmed standing on the site of the former Ida B. Wells public housing project. “My life has been hurt by Democrats.”

In another scene, Paul McKinley is standing outside the Cook County Jail, accusing Rahm Emanuel and Quinn of abandoning African American interests.

“There’s a black on black crime down in city hall, there’s a black on black crime down in all the state capitols in America, where all the black folks are voting against our interests,” he said.

In fact, that issue was raised at the second debate between Quinn and Rauner, sponsored by the Urban League, when Rauner hammered at Quinn for “taking the black vote for granted.”

Quinn strongly denied the accusation and touted his strong support for blacks, including job creation and raising the minimum wage.

You think a video from Breitbart, a pic of Ben Carson, and a Youtube video of some black guy (which you posted after my post) somehow validates your "The GOP is gaining black support" argument? If I find similar videos of black people supporting the Democratic party does that undermine your stance?

Yes, and no.

Yes because it proved my point, and there are FAR more examples I can show. No, because I didn't state a full loss of support, just a current and growing loss of support of the DNC.

This is true, come to me and I will show you all the ways of dunking basketballs, rhythm when dancing, and making kool aid!

Thanks for playing. I'm right, you're wrong. Deal with it
Tell that to the people in the links I posted. Only a fool would defend any party in these days. Keep playing the game that is actually playing you.

Just because you don't like the answer, doesn't mean the question wasn't answered. FYI

The Dem party would best keep as far a distance as possible from this group. They are the Westboro Church nuts of the left, and the Dems should make sure the public understands the party has no connection with these loons. Instead of apologizing for saying "all lives matter", they should highlight it. The Black Lives Matter loons in Minn protesting and saying "Pigs in a blanket should fry like bacon", is not the language that wins over the public, especially when this rhetoric incites violence against the cops. Why doesn't Sanders or one of the Dem candidates stand up to these loons and put them in their place? If they did this it would make them much stronger candidate in the general election. I'd love for them to show up at a Trump rally or one of the other GOP candidates, and they'd be put in their place very quickly. The public wants to see candidates stand up to the extreme groups from either side of the spectrum.

Agreed, which is why the Dems trying to support them is all the more hilarious. It's so blatantly obvious they are trying to hold onto the black vote.

Maybe they rejected the Democratic Party resolution because they see the overwhelming support of African Americans for Democratic candidates has not really improved their lives.
Maybe they rejected the Dems because they have given the party overwhelming support and still as a people are ending up worse off
