That's cool and all, I just don't believe in moral victories. I don't think we should be ranked. I know MSU is down and Illinois is putrid but 5-1 would be enough to be ranked. I really like this team and think they have potential for an okay year despite being so young in several positions.

It's not a moral victory....... It's an acknowledgement that this is a good team.

Do you think we'll beat MSU and Illinois? I think we will and apparently so does this ranker. Those assumptions are baked into the rankings. Thats like exactly how this works bro.

Remember the rankings are not only based off what Iowa does, but the other teams as well. I honestly don't know enough about most of the other schools to say, but Iowa's performance last night should give them some consideration.

I did not see a "good team", I saw good plays here and there on run defense, not so much pass defense , I saw a boneheaded safety, I saw wadley again, AGAIN, almost BE the offense towards the end

You didn't see a good team? I'm guessing your comment is that Wadleyy is the only offensive weapon we have correct? So I'm guessing you're assuming that Penn State is not a good team either because Barkley was the only weapon they had that hurt us.

Just what I was thinking. Both teams would be in a world of hurt if their top player got hurt. Wadley is very good, but Barkley is incredible. PSU's supporting cast is probably a better than ours. Thus they are better. Barkley and PSU is very much akin to McCaffery and Stanford two years ago. Hopefully we get one more chance at Barkley.

Really?

So someone does not believe in moral victories?

Does someone then not believe in morals, ethics, laws or anything else?

So what does someone believe in?

You think a team that took the #4 team to the wire is not "good"?

I guess that word is subjective, but that's tough man.......

Truth is it's not that high of a bar for a major program to crack the best 40 or so in the country and numbers 20-40 are interchangeable.

Not that you care but at least I'm an objective opinion.

I get the moral victory part but if you don't think people across the country took notice of Iowa taking the #4 team in the country down to the wire, I think you are being disrespectful to your staff and kids.

That loss absolutely should have moved you in the T25. Now you're set to make a nice run into the T20 or T15 or higher...I have no idea how your team is other than what I saw last night. Despite the frustration, I'd be pretty excited for what happens the rest of the way.

Agree. Plus we don't start series on our own 10-10-and1 early in the
1st half.
I would assume that if we get to Indy and meet Penn State again, we should be a much better "TEAM" by then, and would have to have been good enough to beat Wisconsin and possibly Ohio State. Stanley will have a complete season under his belt, so we should offer the pedsters a much more formidable offense to worry about.

The Penn State fans that were leaving our section all said the same thing "See you in Indy." Talked to several of them and they were convinced Iowa has probably lost their last regular season game. There is no doubt our offense will be better when we play the CCG, but I think those gains may be offset by playing them in a neutral site dome and not Kinnick at night. Will probably come down to last possession again.

Way too much nitpicking here that team last nite took one of the most explosive offenses in the country to the wire this is a 10 win team at least. No matter what I'm proud of them.

Iowa competed hard. They damn near pulled off a miracle.

They also gave up 600 yards of Offense to the opposition and let them hold the ball for 2/3 of the game.

Good teams don't let that happen.

Don't really follow Iowa football that much. But how do you guys really feel about your team? Do you think you can accurately gage them at this point in the season? I don't know how you guys do it but you always play lights out in Kinnick against ranked opponents. With that said, can you really get a feel for your team so far?
