Fired UCLA Coach Alford probably sitting somewhere saying, Final Four with "my" recruits. The team Mike Cronin put out there in only his 2nd year as Head Coach was phenomenal. If the Gonzaga / UCLA game isn't a blue print on how College basketball SHOULD be played I don't know what is. And every coach getting paid millions including McCaffery could learn a heck of a lot by playing and replaying that game.

Iowa plays a similar style but doesn’t have the same horses.

Offensively? Not really but I understand where you’re coming from. Lots of shooters on the floor.

Defensively?.... lol. Dude....
Iowa wasn't as far off this year as you are thinking. Also, let's be honest, UCLA got hot and went on a run. They were a 11 seed for a reason.

Well, which style?

Those two teams couldn't have been any different in offensive approach.

Gonzaga plays basketball with lots of ball and player movement. Cutting passing and fast breaking.

Ucla walked the ball up every time and was taking difficult and well defended isolation shots all night.

I don't remember a single fast break and virtually no layups.

The odds are overwhelming in favor of that style not working but for one night they almost played a perfect game.

I give Cronin credit though, he knew what his only shot was.

The gym being mostly empty helps too because he was basically able to direct almost every offensive possession of that game.

Two very talented teams playing their best basketball during a pressure cooker.

No doubt amazing game and two impressive performances.

But, I don't think Fran, or any other coach, learned any secret sauce from it.
