Bruce Harreld, MBA, managing principal at Executing Strategy, LLC, will visit campus on Tuesday, Sept. 1, to meet with faculty, staff, students, members of the community, and local elected officials. You can review Harreld’s curriculum vitae on the UI presidential search website.

Harreld will also participate in a public forum from 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. in the Second Floor Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union (if questions conclude prior to 6:15 p.m. the forum will end).

Live video streaming of the public forum and a recording upon its conclusion will be available on the UI presidential search website. A mult box will also be available at the public forum for reporters covering the event.

Harreld is one of four finalists invited to participate in a final round of interviews at the University of Iowa. Following the campus visits, the Board of Regents will convene a meeting on Sept. 3 to interview the candidates and select a new president. Members of the campus and the general public are encouraged to provide feedback to the board through a website set up by Parker Executive Search, which can be accessed at the UI presidential search website.

My guess is that the tOSU guy gets the job, but it's only a guess based on no insider information.

My thought as well. I hope he is passionate about sports, especially the big 3. Our luck we'd get the one flower-child in Cbus that is against the advancement of inter-collegiate athletics.

Honestly, sports isn't Iowa's biggest problem right now. Innovation and creativity is.

We have an absolutely terrible marketing department. The best we can come up with is, "The University For Iowa." What the Hell is that? Is that really the best we can do? It's embarrassing. Let's be honest, Iowa State is eating our lunch. Their, "Choose your Adventure" campaign has killed anything we've come up with, and just over the summer, they rolled out, "CampUs," a Iowa State camping themed campaign. I think that Iowa still thinks that they don't have to work for students, that they will just line up to get in here, and it has showed. We're no longer the state's largest university. We don't seem that concerned with good marketing. And our brand has suffered as a result.

We're in decline and that decline comes from the top. The next President had better be committed to working their ass off to bring the University back up to snuff.
