Process on coming back and advice from his brothers during this process? Family played a huge impact. All his brothers said they would come back in a heartbeat. Thrives at being an underdog and this year Iowa and him will be underdogs.
NIL bill died in senate. How does it feel to live in a state where that won't happen right now? Nothing in it for me. People can say he has been ungrateful, but they don't understand how I have been trying to help younger guys. Happy for the SEC athletes that will get it this year. Really disappointing that it did not pass in Iowa.
CJ's decision played a role in his decision to come back. Allowed him to reopen the gate and be a combo guard. It was CJ's decision. Says he is a huge Fran guy, but a huge college athlete. Love both Fran and CJ and hope for the best for him.
Will this season feel different with fans? Will be way more fun and exciting. Never felt like a real season. Every game felt like a scrimmage. He thrives off the fans.
Thoughts on CJ and the rumors in the locker room? Don't pay attention to them at all. People can say what they want on the outside. Says he didn't even see it until the end of the season anyway. Hard to see him go because he was great friend and teammate. Never saw his teammate aspect faltered at all.
What do you see on this roster and how can you prove them wrong about this team? With leadership from him and Connor. Love the young talent like Keegan. Expectations will not be as high, but we feel like we have something to prove. Thrive on being the underdog and thinks it will be a really exciting year.
On the defense and it being exposed. He gets knocked on D. How can that be better? Have to want to be better. Doesn't think he's as bad at defense as he is made out to be. Thinks the team will be quicker and better in ball screens and switch things up even more. He thinks it will be a better team on defense next year. Thinks they will be exciting.
