Lunardi's latest Bracket Math just came out an hour ago. Here's his official numerical order of teams (not just guessing based on his bracket).

He has 38 teams listed as safely in the tournament (85% chance of making it). They are:

(1) 1 - Kentucky, 2 - Virginia, 3 - Duke, 4 - Villanova
(2) 5 - Wisconsin, 6 - Arizona, 7 - Gonzaga, 8 - Kansas
(3) 9 - Maryland, 10 - Notre Dame, 11 - Utah, 12 - Iowa St.
(4) 13 - Oklahoma, 14 - UNI, 15 - Wichita St. 16 - Baylor
(5) 17 - North Carolina, 18 - Louisville, 19 - Arkansas, 20 - West Virginia
(6) 21 - Providence, 22 - Georgetown, 23 - SMU, 24 - Butler
TEAMS THAT SHOULD BE IN: (7) 25 - VCU, 26 - Michigan St., 27 - San Diego St., 28 - Iowa
(8) 29 - Ohio St., 30 - St. John's, 31 - DAYTON, 32 - Georgia
(9) 33 - Mississippi, 34 - N.C. State, WORK LEFT TO DO: 35 - Oklahoma St., 36 - Xavier
(10) 37 - Cincinnati, 38 - Oregon, 39 - Texas A&M

- Dayton is now leading their conference and also an at-large berth.

He lists 22 teams as automatic qualifiers:

(16) 68 - Texas Southern, 67 - Sacramento, 66 - Charleston Southern, 65 - North Florida, 64 - St. Francis, 63 - Bucknell
(15) 62 - N.C. Central, 61 - William & Mary, 60 - Albany, 59 - South Dakota St.
(14) 58 - New Mexico St., 57 - Central Michigan, 56 - Georgia St., 55 - UC Davis
(13) 54 - Valparaiso, 53 - La. Tech, 52 - Iona, 51 - Harvard
(12) 50 - Murray St., 49 - Wofford, 48 - Stephen F. Austin
(12) 45 - BOISE ST.

That leaves 15 teams for the 7 last spots. The ones currently holding those 7 are:

(10) 40 - LSU
(11) 41 - Colorado St., 42 - Purdue, 43 - Indiana, 44 - BYU
(12) 46 - Davidson, 47 - Temple

Those on the wrong side of the bubble are:

69 - Texas
70 - Tulsa
71 - UCLA
72 - Miami
73 - Illinois
74 - Stanford
75 - Old Dominion
76 - Richmond

Cheer for Davidson to beat VCU tonight. Maybe we can overtake them. Gonna be real tough to break into the 6 seed with all those Big East teams lodged right there.

This would seem to suggest that Illinois/Purdue on Saturday may be a "play-in" game.

Be happy as long as we stay in the 6-7 seed category.

Side note seems like UCLA in most projections right now sitting on the outside. If they miss the tourney things won't be looking to good for Alford going into next year with that fan base. Mentioned in another thread but when you see UCLA games on TV amazed by the amount of open seats there.

Nothing to do with Alford. Everything to do with music like Mambo #5. If they played different music, people would stream to Pauley Pavilion and it would rock.

And I know the A.D. said Crean's job was safe, but how soon do you think he'd be on the phone with the Golden Boy if UCLA ever fired him? Crean's job is only as safe as Alford's job.

Oskaloosa, that is a false statement. The fans of Indiana nor the A.D. want anything to do with Alford.

Torbee, hate to say it but I really want the Illini to beat Purdue so that would probley mean they would get in. Them beating purdue means we get the double bye in the BTT. I doubt MSU will lose to Indiana and I don't think OSU will beat Wisky.

Is a pair up of any of the three in-state teams in the same region virtually unavoidable?

I mean how likely is it that Iowa, Iowa State and UNI all get sent to separate regions? I'd usually assume that to be pretty likely, but the way everyone is talking this year, hell we could just as easily be seeing one of them in the 2nd round (Round of 32)..........
