Brady's suspension overturned

No real surprise here since the cba doesn't allow a player to be suspended for tampering with a football.
Giselle offered to send the judge nude selfies of herself for a year. Hard to beat that.

I thought nfl would win. That being said the nfl shouldn't have pushed this and instead put iron clad rules in for future.

It's not much of a cheating scandal when the NFL had really lax rules around game ball security and an exceedingly weak punishment on the books for violating the rules. We'll see if the NFL gets more serious about inflation of the balls this season. If they don't, they'll have nothing to stand on for future punishments.

can we please now put this topic to rest Most ridiculous 'controversy' ever. I forget who said it, but an NFL player was quoted a few weeks back saying "Tom is being given a life sentence for jay walking"

This is all on the nfl, if they wanted to be able to suspend a player for tampering with a ball it should have been included in the cba.

irrelevant. So much misunderstanding of this issue, brady could have told everyone that he personally tampered with the footballs and he still could not have been suspended.
Plus, it's not even a big deal. The footballs weren't tampered with during the championship games last season, and they still won. Hell the reason they won the Super Bowl had more to do with Seattle simply not running the ball. Either way, a ball isn't going to win the game.

Or a 4 game suspension. You know, potato, rock.

It would be interesting to know what was going through the collective brains of the NFL when they choose to pursue this as hot and heavy as they did.

There was nothing 'independent' about the Ted Wells report. As soon as the NFL said they were going to do an investigation, there's not a person that remotely follows the NFL that didn't know who was going to lead the charge. The NFL hired him, which they had done in the past. How's that independent? Just like past 'independent' investigations, his report supported the NFL's agenda. Maybe if this 'independent' investigator didn't always seem to side with the NFL his finding might have a little more credibility.

This would have been better handled by a simple reprimand from the NFL. Fine him. Tell him you think he was involved, but you have no proof. Move on. Besides, if PSI of FB was deemed, until now, that big of a deal the NFL would have had better procedures in place.

That NFL player is an idiot.

I personally think, and have posted previously, that this is what the NFL wanted all along. They wanted to be the big-tough-game-protecting league that was willing to go after the reigning superbowl champion with harsh penalties......and can now say that they did, but a Judge decided otherwise. So they still get the NFL + Brady the first four weeks, incredible press coverage, and likely even more tuning in on Sundays. It was a win-win for them, they made a big issue out of a minor issue, nothing changed, and back to business.

It's nice to know that The Courts still find the Constitution viable and honor the idea of innocent until PROVEN guilty. Ofcourse, this is a giant setback for Corporate America, who would like to replace The Constitution and its Bill of Rights with the latest edition of The Corporate Hand Book.

What a waste of everyone's time....nice job NFL!

JFC.....that is a ton of stupid crammed into one small post. Are you following the facts of this case at all?

Wait, what?
IowaHawk...I have a very low regard for the NFL and how it has operated the past 25 years or so. This whole matter was a waste of time and money.....the NFLs, Tom Brady's and the Patriots. "Inflate-gate" is nothing more than sour grapes. It had ZERO to do with the results of any football game. It was pure bullsh^t.
If the NFL was truly concerned about its "integrity" I can think of a certain reverse pass interference call made in a play-off game that had a helluva lot more impact on the game....I can also think of a certain thug DLineman who INTENTIONALLY tried to injure the opposing teams QB by stepping on him, but the League then reversed its original suspension because the play-offs were coming up.
The words "integrity and the NFL" do not belong in the same sentence.

Except when he was asked "did you jaywalk" he lied about it and then destroyed his phone. Innocent people wouldn't typically do that.

I get what dgordo is saying, but this looks bad for Brady and many will not forget this. It is yet ANOTHER (at best) questionable moment in the Patriots dynasty as far as I'm concerned.

I would never hand over my phone to anyone. Look what happened when the media got their hands on his e-mail account? All of a sudden his personal e-mails with his buddy about Manning and an exchange with his ex all over the media. No one deserves that.

IMO this is something the NFL should have fined the Pats on in Feb and let the issue go. They kept pressing over such a small infraction, one that apparently many teams have been doing since the game started, thus the jay walking analogy. If everyone is doing it, how do you call out one guy? And who the eff cares? People have such a raging boner to nail Brady to the wall. I am not even a fan of the guy, or the Patriots, but all the haters sound like guys who suffer from small penis syndrome; they are all so jealous of how successful he is and how hot his wife is that they want to see him suffer something. It seems like a bunch of HS girls picking on the hot girl that all the guys want.

Oh, so now you agree it has nothing to do with the Constitution? Ok, great, carry on.

Sure, due process standards have been flushed out quite well in court precedent.

I get your point. I think we both know it wasn't what Joel's rant meant.

To be fair to joel, brady did make a due process argument.

But not based on the constitution, but rather the CBA which requires notice of both what constitutes punishable wrongdoing and nature of the charges when discipline action commenced. Judge found league failed on both counts.

While due process is a constitutional provision, it can also be flow from other sources.

Judge also relied upon nfl using kangaroo court process-in house employee actually edited the "independent" report, then was not available to be examined as to what and why, and on top of that they did not disclose witness interview notes and other investigatory documentation, common discovery. Judge imo went onto shakier ground with excessive punishment, which cba would not allow to be reviewed, cloaked in notice finding as well.

League was so weird here, I wonder what their true motive was, Goodell simply couldn't believe the bs in his nutty "arbitrator" ruling. Maybe he wanted to keep Will Smith movie out of the news, keep player arrests out of the news, or simply stay in the news on the no such thing as bad publicity theory. Or appease Patriot hater owners, no idea.

Since the Pat's don't get found guilty of squat - will the other teams step up their "games-man-ship"?

The Patriots actually played better in the 2nd half when the balls were properly inflated.

I think each of the Pat's 16 regular season opponents have an obligation to put Mr. Brady on the turf as many times as possible this season; starting with the Steeler's.

Roger Goodell is a bumbling fool. He has taken a well deserved beating for all of his goof ups the last few years. Thank goodness for him the NFL has been making money hand over fist since before he took over. He's a disaster of a leader, and I wonder if his days are numbered?

Starting with the Steeler's what?
