Lots of discussion with Brody on this weeks episode. What happened at Midlands, why has he been in a sling and the question everyone is wanting to know, what weight is Brody heading to for 15'-16' season.

Listen it straight from the horses mouth!

141lbs here comes Brody! Six month process to get down to 141 and not 10 days. Target date is mid to late December. I like it and think this makes our team even stronger.

25 Gilman
33 Clark
41 Grothus (Carton to start the year)
49 Sorenson
57 Cooper?
65 Paddock
74 Meyers
84 Brooks
97 Burak
HWT Stoll

Just rumors. The IA wrestle guys had Brody on the podcast and it came from the horses mouth. Give a listen because its good stuff

I thought BG to 141 was already confirmed?

A week ago (or maybe it was two) Tony heard a rumor that Grothus was going to 141 and we talked about it on a podcast. We got in touch with Brody to let him put it out there that he is headed to 141 officially. Especially hearing it from Brody how he is still rehabbing it's nice to have it official and not have to wait for Media day to be able to ask Brands about it.

That was an excellent interview. I am a huge Brody fan and I hope he goes out on top. The Salvation Army story was a classic. It was also nice hearing about the new SC coach.

Got it, thanks for the info. As always good stuff with that podcast.

This is huge news and IMO really solidifies our lineup. This is one less speculative point of debate on our board. Great get and another great interview by the Potentially Dangerous crew!

here at work, so can't yet get to the interview, though i will later.... but gotta know...

is Brody in a sling currently, or was this in past?

Did this morning!! Does it take a day to post the review? I submitted this morning but nothing showing up yet.

Does anyone know if Brody cleared with the board smarty pantses who insisted this wasn't possible?
We are still waiting to hear from some of them. They will be by shortly to admit talking out their rears. That I am sure of.

Soooo about 141. How does this change your thoughts about Vince Turk? Don't forget Logan Ryan. Details coming on that on next weeks podcast.

I feel it would be wise for Turk to shirt unless he is TF Carton, Ryan, and Grothus. Which I'm sure he isn't. What I'm wondering is who is in the lineup the first half of the season while Brody is rehabbing? Carton or if allowed Ryan?

I think Ryan will hold the spot down until Brody is good to go.

Since Brody said he planned on coming back at Midlands, wouldn't that make it possible for Turk to man the 41 spot until than and still keep his redshirt? Or does that not apply since we duel OK St first thing in the season? What would be the official cut off date to pull the redshirt?

Can't wrestle attached to keep redshirt, so no duals. Only the early season opens.

Agree with most of the above. To sum it up:

Carton will start at 141 until Midlands.

Turk will redshirt.

Ryan will presumably be back on the team and eligible in Jan.

Grothus will get down to 141 by Midlands and assume the starting spot unless Carton or Ryan wins Midlands and pins Grothus along the way.

Grothus will beat Mayes of Missouri in the NCAA finals.

Just wondering where Grothus is going to find the time to develop some leg attacks while he is managing his weight on his way to a NCAA championship.

Or I guess the assumption is that he will be so strong at 141 that he is just going to toss everyone around.

Interesting that you pick him over Mayes in the finals, I don't know about that matchup. I would think he would be down about 5 after 1 period. Of course if Mayes doesn't put it out of reach, there is always the possibility Grothus rides the crap out of him, wears him out by the 3rd and anything can happen.

I actually like Grothus and will root for him as much as I can root for an Iowa guy, but I just don't see anything at all for all this optimism unless he is a whole different wrestler. Maybe an AA, maybe, but I wouldn't count on it. He's got a couple of close matches against guys (Tsirtsis & Sorenson) who don't exactly light the world on fire with their offense and his win was against the guy he wrestles all year long in his own room.

He's going to be good on the mat and will wear some guys out, but guys that are good on their feet are going to give him trouble. A lot of trouble unless there has been a new Grothus developing somewhere in the IA room.

I know I'll get blasted on this, but this is my honest objective assessment on this. Maybe I'm wrong, I'd be open to debate it with civility. I made a bet on this board with Gulibon last year (which, BTW, I won) and I could see doing it again. I'd bet Gulibon finishes ahead of Grothus at NCAAs this year. And, no, I don't see Gulibon winning a NC.

What Jay said!

Just listened to the Potentially Dangerous podcast (while vacuuming the whole house and earning some serious points with the Mrs.!). Never had so much fun vacuuming -- ever. The podcast made the time fly. Great interview with Brody, and I did catch his comment that guys read message boards. Fortunately, the vast majority of stuff on here is positive. Hopefully Hawk fans remember this and keep it that way.

Big Grothus fan, and I agree with the above sentiment that he could be a terror at 141. Go get 'em, Brody!
