Brody Post Match Interview

If he wins ncaa they could remake or do a visionquest 2 around brodys story. Flo would do it I'm sure.

The part about his dad and mom almost brought a tear. The long hours in dim lit gyms, late and early morning make weight sessions, weight mgmt physiological games.....the outside world will never understand.

Thanks for posting and if our guy isn't on the mat ....count me as now rooting for Brody!

I do not know how anyone could not root for this kid after watching that interview. As a hawk fan his ability to do well at B1G's and nationals might determine if we can win it all but I'll be cheering for him to do well for himself more then whatever consequences his success does for the team race. Good luck Brody and finish your career with a bang.

Go Hawks

Who was sitting on the coach's bench during Brody's match? I couldn't tell who it was.

yea that's a pretty cool kid, his whole face lights up when talking about his dad. win or lose glad to have him.

I was pretty encouraged by his performance last night. He was a few seconds from a RT point and winning 7-0. He hits a tilt, or gets another takedown at some point and it's a major. Moss beat Sabetello 11-3, and Ashnault beat him 10-0.

As a parent, it is an excellent reminder that your children needs you most when they suffer a set back. And Brody's comment was along the lines of "he didn't say anything, we all knew how I was feeling" was awesome.

Lastly, the folks from the QC have always said great things about Brody and I think they have been underselling him.

Best of luck, Mr. Grothus.

I had a family member spending some time at the Hope Lodge last fall, he wanted to watch a practice so I took him over to Carver. Happened to bump into Brody in the hall outside the room, he stopped and had a nice conversation with my nephew, gave him a little pep talk and invited us into the room. Neither of us had ever been there before so weren't sure if we could just walk in or what but Brody showed us to the bleachers, said something again to my nephew, and began his workout. Great young man who I will be rooting just a little extra for.

Terrific interview! That young man is a credit to Iowa wrestling. The massive thread was well-deserved. Great to hear that he heard the crowd on that last takedown. It looked that way to me -- he was struggling to pull in the leg, the crowd roared, and it looked like he got a surge of adrenaline and wasn't going to be denied. He sucked that thing in and KABOOM!

Loved hearing about the support from his parents. Great story. I suspect the Flash Flanigan Open might turn out to be one his fondest memories in a weird way, almost like Gable's Larry Owings match -- a low moment that he has already turned into something good. . . and hopefully much, much more good!

Great interview. This young man has really a great head and what a great attitude. Myself can't imagaine after the Flanagan open going to Carver and working out and his dad with him. Great story and hope Brody can full fill his goals.

Looking forward to a great finish that we can retell on this board for years to come.

I have not been a naysayer about Grothus but I have been skeptical about the whole thing.

He has a way to go for sure but I have to say, his head seems right and he looked good. Think we have a legit 141. I was wrong. I think he can have a significant impact on us.
