Ok, so I'm seeing Brooks getting past Dudley again, and making the final. I'm also seeing Boyd clipping Dean and also making the final, which leads to........

REVENGE!!!!! For the bonehead move Sammy did against Nolan that allowed him to see the lights from his back and get stuck (While Sammy was on his way to a bonus point win). All rights wronged, FEAR THE MULLET!!!!

I don't think he got stuck, but getting put on his back definitely cost him the match.

Brooks has done a very good job so far of dictating the flow of both matches like he did in his last matchup with Dudley. Although he initially struggled and gave up a takedown against the kid from Central Michigan he still controlled the tie ups. He will be in the finals if he continues to wrestle like he has been since losing to Gravina.

Dudley is looking really good so far as well. He broke down Nate Brown. I think Sammy wins 9-8.

I was actually talking about last year when Sammy was whoopin Boyd, then made a bad error and got stuck, sweet redemption if they met in the final for the mullet

I like that line of thinking, too, except 1) I'd be pleasantly shocked if Boyd beat Dean and 2) didn't Sammy just give up a 5-point move and lose to Boyd by decision? He was definitely controlling the match but tried an ill-advised throw an got taken to his back. Couldn't find the score in a quick search, but I was thinking he ended up just losing by decision. Anyway, I agree -- some revenge would be great!

Had to have been Renda he was thinking of -- the ill-fated NC State meet.

Speaking of which, would love to see Coop get himself some revenge against Gantt. He was closing the gap in the dual meet compared to the shellacking he took at Midlands until the clock operators and refs got together and screwed him out of a takedown at the end of the 2nd period. He'd obviously be an underdog, but it's pretty common for motivated underdogs to upset highly ranked guys in the consos after the more highly ranked guy loses on the front side.

How did his match with Dudley end up?

Loved the agressiveness he showed in the consolation match as well, but....

How kind of you to come over here and remind us Husker Hank. Just be glad your boy Dudley was able to survive the match. Textbook example of getting an early lead then putting on the skates.

Congrats to Nebraska though (even though you just came over here to troll), 3 AA's including a finalist and a top 10 finish.

Can't wait for more Brooks/Dudley battles next year. I predict Brooks going 3-0 (Dual, B1Gs, and NCAAs).

Who do you think fills in next year for your two R12 and one AA SR's that you will be losing in Abidin, Sueflohn, and Wilson?

I assume Lambert, Montoya, Berger, Barnes, Dudley, Studebaker, and Jensen will remain in the same spots.

Have a great night.

It probably was a bit of a troll, but heard a lot of Brookes hype, and people dogging on Dudley, so a little 'scoreboard' felt good.

I guess I dont get why people seem to want Brookes to do his upper body stuff.I really think it cost him in both of his losses yesterday, especially the last one. Frankly he isnt very good at it, and if his sudo greco stuff is a 50/50 deal at best, then probably not a good game plan.

As far as the Huskers next year, I would guess Colton McCrystal at either 141 or 149, with a hard look at incoming freshman Chad Red at the other spot. 165 maybe Dustin Williams, who has had a little spot fill in experience.

I hope the Hawks wrestle well today, but I don't like their chances, Gilman might have the best chance to win a title, but I think Iowa goes home without a title this year.In regard to the pin of Tomasello talked about in other threads, no one had the veiw that the ref did, but by the camera angle, it sure didnt look even close to a fall. I also though Tomasello had the takedown on the edge of the mat at the end of the one period. (was it the 2nd, or 3rd),...cant remember.

I also think Dudley will have a tough time keeping it close in his match unless he pulls off something crazy, but Dean seems to be too much in beast mode this year.

I think Brooks' upper body moves are absolutely worthy in the third period when the other wrestler is gassed. However, he was attempting half-ass moves in the middle of the first period.

While I love Sammy and his attitude, he is on the verge of becoming one of the most underachieving Hawks in a while.

I think it is the mullet,LOL.

So you thought Dean had control? You are definitely in a minority from the comments I have seen from non bias offerings.

I thought it was highly suspect, also. There was a position, if Dean had held it, could have resulted in a real takedown. But that position was held for probably less than 1/10 of a second and flowed into something else where Dean was not in control. I thought the referee anticipated what was coming next (which didn't happen) and called the takedown. Then he refused to rectify his mistake.

I was pulling for Dean to win, but don't think he had the takedown there.

As (maybe) a funny or odd aside, my son and I saw Dean and Dudley wrestle in person together three times before last night between them (Dudley twice and Dean once - Dudley at Rutgers and Penn State and Dean in Ithaca against Oklahoma State) and they had lost all three matches. What are the odds of that happening?

Unfortunately, not even close!

5 years ago it wasn't a takedown. In hs it also wouldn't be. You don't need control in college...no reaction time. Dudley should have been dinged numerous times also.

I am bias though bc I am a fan of Dudley.
