Class of 2018 linebacker Mike Bruner has early scholarship offers from Iowa and Iowa State. On Saturday, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Wisconsin native had a chance to watch both teams in action as he was at Kinnick Stadium to watch the annual Cy-Hawk rivalry game. We caught up with Bruner afterwards to get a complete update.
Q: How did it go at Iowa yesterday?
BRUNER: It went very well at Iowa yesterday. The game was fantastic and I got to spend a little time with the other recruits during the game. I had a great time.
Q: What all did you get to do on the visit?
BRUNER: I only came for the game because I was at Upper Iowa for my brother's football game before, so I wasn't able to make it early.
Q: Which coaches did you get to talk with and what was their message?
BRUNER: I talked with Coach Wallace a little after the game. He said he was excited for me to be at the game and is looking forward to me being at their game against Wisconsin.
Q: Was it fun, or strange, watching both schools that have offered you play one another?
BRUNER: It was very fun. Instead of going to Iowa and then Iowa State to watch a game, I got to watch them both at the same time.
Q: What's next for you recruiting wise? Any more visits coming up?
BRUNER: Yes. On the September 24, I will be heading to Michigan State for their game against Wisconsin.
