Was watching BTN cover the Purple Kittens last night and they are really hyping up that Fitzy defense, making it sound like Walker (LB) is the best LB in college football. They kept showing these gaudy defensive stats from last year and conveniently left out the fact about Iowa and Michigan rolling them. But, alas, they said while the defense gave up some points and yardage, they blamed a bad offense for putting them on the field so much, ha!

They might beat a good team on a good day, but it's difficult to be consistently good unless your QB can be counted on to at least make routine throws to move the chains.

They lost some key pieces on that defense so I don't think their defense will be as good as last year. And they still have a QB who can't throw and no WRs to speak of. I see them taking a step back this year.

I dislike Harbaugh, Urban and Dantonio as much as most of you, but I absolutely love seeing Iowa destroy NW! It's probably because of Fitz's antics, but that 2009 game still resonates. They clearly face-masked Stanzi, which should have negated the strip fumble and TD. Oh yeah, and the hold call on Vandervelde which wiped out a Wegher TD didn't help either.

I agree here. I dont know about a step back, per se, but I see them playing like last year. Good defense, but not great, an o.k at best O., and staying in that 7-9 win area, which is great, dont get me wrong, but with that offense, I just dont see them challenging for the west.

And like @BigOHawk mentioned, if they were worried about their D getting put in a bad situation last year, I dont see it getting any better this year, regardless of jackson at RB.

This is the same northwestern team that got out score by Michigan, Iowa, and Tennessee something like 123-16. thats not a fluke. Look for northwestern to get dominated in the trenches this year against the good competition.
