BTS Ray Lewis Speech to Wrestlers

Rah rah speeches suck anyways...always hated them before football games. Had a coach who would always get near tears and I would be rolling my eyes internally. Maybe it was the wrestler in me that thought if I needed a speech, I probably shouldn't be out there. Have to say, the Al Pacino speech from Any Given Sunday was pretty bad ass.

This is a great speech:

Dang, tough crowd.

Haha...sorry bro. I used to watch Ray Lewis shouting before the games while the announcers were exalting his leadership skills...I'm like, what the hell is he saying?

The best thing that can be said about Ray is his level of dedication and professionalism in his craft. Dude played at a high level for many years in a very tough game. After the "event," did he ever get in trouble again?

Well, it wasn't a particularly articulate speech, but more importantly it just doesn't feel as if he has the authority to try to fire-up people who are at the top of their game in a sport in which he is not really even known for. Not to mention, as others already have, that wrestlers are the least needful of "fire-up" speeches of any athlete.

Along with others, I've never been a big fan of the "inspirational pre-game speech." Maybe it can be useful in a team sport, where you have stars but you also have some lower-tier guys who are going to need to step-up their game and contribute. But whatever inspiration a guy might have for a few seconds evaporates once they step on the field-of-play -- at that point it's about execution.
