My question is how will Speaker Johnson navigate this mess. Will Chip Roy and company bend the knee and give him a narrow margin. Or is he going to have to compromise with D’s. Don’t think anyone gets seated before the vote. So it’s a 2 vote majority correct?

The Dems should and probably will vote against the first time at least and see if enough Repub reps vote against the motion.

If the vote fails then we will see what Dems want and what the Repubs will back off of. That is what happened in Dec. and things have gotten worse now for the Repubs as those reps are getting shouted down back home

Probably, but special elections can go weird in a hurry. They are very low turnout affairs. If the wrong people show up, and the MAGAts sit it out, maybe something funny happens. There is a lot of dysfunction that can happen in a month to inspire a protest vote.
