Business dress shoes?

We had a union negotiation session the other day. Management representatives were all suited up. Our freaking lawyers were wearing dress shirts with no ties.

I was incredulous.
I gave up suits and ties in favor of a quality sport coat and open-collar dress shirt about two years ago. Definitely a better approach, imo. I don't need an arrow pointing to my crotch. I get along just fine without it.

I hate hate hate Johnston & Murphy. Something about how they're built just tears my heel to pieces, and I've never had a pair last a year. I finally ponied up for a pair of Allen Edmonds and they've lasted 3 years, just had them resoled. And you can ship them into AE to have them resoled and reconditioned (for a cost). The biggest selling point is the cork insole. They mold to your foot over time making them ultra comfortable. I'll never go back.

JM fit my feet great. Not the most expensive but good quality. Been considering AE recently though. But I was struggling to justify double the cost from what I could see.

I'm in an Am Law 200 firm as well. The only acceptable answer is Church's. I swear by their shoes. Yes, you may pay a bit more, but if you buy two pairs and rotate them daily, take care of them, put a tree in them when not worn, shine them once every two weeks, and get them resoled every two years, the shoes will last a decade.
