IOWA CITY, Iowa -- According to recruiting sites, the University of Iowa football program is a popular final destination for several high school stars in the Class of 2016. But what can recruits do to catch the eyes of the Hawkeye coaching staff?

UI senior defensive end Drew Ott is a great example.

He wasn’t overlooked because he played 8-man football, rather than the traditional 11-man variety.

Iowa needs to find a way to beat the attrition game, better than they did from 2010-14. Going 19-21 over the last five years has been difficult. Iowa's 2009 season would very much like Coach Fry's 1991 season.

It will be interesting to see how Iowa wraps up Class of 2016 recruiting. Thus far, both Iowa and Minnesota are recruiting better than the Class of 2015, based on rival rankings. The Class of 2015 offensive line recruits, I am very encouraged by the list of recruits. It may not be Ohio State, but a solid Iowa class ...
