Bye Urban

Sadly you can hear some disappointing stories at Iowa and every other school.

I think Urban is scum. I don't think these players were embellishing at all.

But I would remind each of us that subjectivity does play a roll in perception and stories. (Not to diminish this in any way.)

And I'd trust my son with Kirk big time.

But you just joined the board this June?

An assistant from another school described an Iowa practice as a “bloodbath”. Multiple players weee hospitalized with rhabdo after an offseason workout. Do people think Kirk and Doyle should be fired?

That was bad but do you really equate that with sexual misconduct being ignored?

There would be more of a correlation to the OP's article if those hospitalized players were mocked and humiliated as claimed in the article. And if Doyle did that, yes he should have been fired.

There's a difference in using some "colorful language" to motivate as opposed to mock or humiliate.

And there are three people interviewed in that article. How hard do you think it was to find a couple of kids with red ass about a coach that will tell you that they were verbally humiliated in practice? Where do you draw the line between “quit being a pussy” as a motivational comment and “quit being a pussy” the mocking comment?

If you tell me that Urban Meyer should be fired due to the handling of his assistant coach, I am 100% on board. He should be fired. But this video? Meh.

My son played for Coaches Ferentz and Doyle. Were practicing tough and challenging, absolutely!!! Having said that, many life lessons learned and he would do it all over again. And yes, he was there during Rhabdo-gate.

You must have missed it in my original post "as CLAIMED in the article" And I never said those OSU coaches should be fired. I SAID "had Doyle mocked the hospitalized players" "Heat of the battle" motivation vs mocking injured players is where I draw the line.

That was a Nebraska assistant that said that after a game. Kirk was asked about it and to paraphrase "It was a short week and we didn't even wear pads."

I won't comment about the rhabdo thing since it has been talked about a lot over the years.

Fair enough.

I believe it was a Nebraska assistant coach that said something to the effect of "their practices must be a blood bath" after we physically dominated them one year. I don't believe that coach actually went to any practices.

Tressell got fired for tattoos but Meyer will keep his for wife beating lies.

The longer this plays out, the less punishment Meyer will face.
He will not be fired. He’ll be suspended for a game, maybe two, and pay a fine which will be donated to a Columbus women’s shelter. And he’ll make a public apology for making misleading statements at Big Ten Media Day. That’s it.
