Guys in our dorm floor had this playing 24/7 for 2 straight years. They went through a few VCRs and a couple tvs. Good stuff.

The National Lampoons documentary that recently aired covered this. The Lampoon guy was depressed it wasn't a blockbuster, he killed himself.

Caddyshack wasn't a National Lampoon film, but it was Doug Kenney's project. Kenney's death isn't "officially" suicide, however. He was an unstable person, regardless. It's a shame to off yourself over a film "not being a blockbuster", but becoming an iconic film that, in some ways, outshined Animal House.

DRUNK STONED BRILLIANT DEAD: The Story of The National Lampoon

The only thing Caddyshack and Animal House have in
common: Both had comedians from Saturday Night
Live in them. Chevy Chase in Caddyshack and John
Belushi in Animal House.

Ummm, no... that is absolutely incorrect. And, John Belushi and Chevy Chase were not "comedians." Bill Murray, another SNL player, was part of National Lampoon's radio hour and Second City.

Harold Ramis co-wrote both films. Doug Kenney co-wrote both and produced Caddy Shack. Kenney also played small roles in both films. The similarities in the conception and production are immense. The actors having shared a stage at some point is actually one of the more trivial similarities. The common threads between those two films are abundant.

It's easy to grin... when your ship comes in... and, you've got the stock market beat!

That's Animal House.

and, it's what the hell ARE WE supposed to do...
I know it’s from Animal House. I’ve forgotten more about Caddyshack and Animal House than you’ll ever know. Did you know the line was spoken by the character Stork, who was played by the afore mentioned Doug Kenney?

Another thing they have in common is Sarah Holcomb. She played the 13-year-old daughter of the mayor in Animal House (the one Pinto, um, takes to the middle of the football field), and Maggie O’Hooligan in Caddyshack (the one with the really bad Irish accent).

Well, it's a moot point now. But, yes.

Is there some way we can measure how much you've forgotten against what I'll "ever know?" Because, I have a very strong inclination that I know volumes more than you ever knew (and have subsequently forgotten).

She and Kenney are the only two to appear in both films. Kenney's appearance in Caddyshack is one of Czervik's table crowd. He spits a piece of ice in one scene. And, in another scene- behind the actual focus- he is actually offering a line of cocaine to the lady on his left at the table.

It's funny they put that scene in considering they went out their way to find a golf course in Florida that didn't look like it was in Florida.

I think they just kind of made up the script as they were filming. Had a general idea of the movie, but kept think up new gags as the went.

The scene with Murry and Chase was added later because they realized they hadn't had those two in a scene together and they wanted one. They ad libbed most of it.
