I am not defending KF and have no faith in his ability to assess quarterbacks, but how do you know Sullivan is obviously better? All we know for sure is Sullivan is a better runner.

FTR, quarterback is the one position on the field that whoever emerges as the starter to begin the year possesses the irrevocable Ferentz union card. Kirk owes to the team to see how effective Sullivan can be given that Cade hasn’t had it all year, but that is merely a fairytale with a questionable upside as far as the Ferentzes are concerned.

The important point is that it took an injury to Petras to find out if Padilla could deliver. With a couple exceptions over the course of 322 games, this is a well established pattern with Ferentz.

But it’s not like McNamara had an empty resume prior to coming to Iowa. Regardless, it isn’t working and Ferentz needs to be honest with himself about that and concede there is nothing wrong with giving Sullivan a shot.

If Sark can bench Ewers and give Manning a shot before going back to Ewers, there’s no reason Kirk can’t do something similar.
