Not sure what happened here - DeVos was ahead 9-0 with about 30 seconds to go.. then all of a sudden 9-8, then lost on a last second TD(guessing). **Mccormick is a state champ. Fargo is brutal!

That'd be sweet. Reeves has a lot tougher road. He should roll again next round then will hit either Wilson-PA or Saunders-MO. They're both hammers so it should be a good test.

Iowa should have a great turnout with 7-10 AA's with a few possible champs in there.

They're getting closer. Reeves will have a barnburner with Saunders and Teske should win easy. From there Teske will have a chance for some revenge against Schullist from Wisconsin(kid who beat him at NP) and Reeves should have a winnable match vs. either Precin or Rippling. I'm guessing it'll be Rippling.

Anybody know much about Hunter Dejong? He placed 4th in Greco and is in the quarters in Cadets at 195. He is my nephew's nephew by marriage.

Could be a tough one for Teske. Schulist beat Teske by TF at Northern Plains; Ferrante just TF'd Schulist.

Teske was coming off an injury at Northern Plains, so the loss by TF to Schulist could be a bit of an aberration -- although Schulist is a very tough kid in his own right.

Here's what I found on Dejong went 0-2 at state this year as a soph looks like he is putting in the this offseason to make some big strides heading into next year. Heard from an insider that he is related to a Hawkeye report legend though so guessing he's on the TnT watch list for potential recruits.

Haha. I'm guessing that the only time I ever met the kid was at my nephew's wedding back in 2001 and I think he was a baby. Like I said in an earlier post, Tom was "At lunch." Here is how I imagine that conversation would look like in real life:

Tom: How's it going, my name is Tom Brands.
Me: <mouth agape>
Tom:So....you a big fan of Iowa wrestling?
Me: <mouth agape, nods head>
Tom:Ok...well enjoy your tour. Hey, you wouldn't happened to be one of the posters on HR that called for me to be fired, would you?

well that sucked. I thought Faught had a great shot to win it. He just got put in a nearside cradle and teched by a kid he has a win over. I can't say I agree with officiating in it.

Thanks for thinking of me compadre. Kid still has a lot of room for growth both technically and physically. Real long arms and some athletic ability. Also, thanks for the results. You are doing great.

Schrieber has a kid from Alabama in the finals. I know he won Greco but anyone know if they've ever had a Fargo champ? I would guess no.

Tough as nails. Real strong, Farm boy strong. He beat the recruit coming in from Nebby (brownlee) this past year in folk. From what I heard De Jong broke him.

Good wrestler, GREAT kid!

It's Hunter De jong's first year doing freco. he works with team Zappas out of Orange City. He also beat Iowa recruit Brownlee down at a Omaha tourney around New Years this year.
