Caitlin Clark should already have two Wooden Awards

That is all.

I guess we are back to picking the best player on the #1 ranked team in the country.

I hate to say it, but Paige Buekers will now be the favorite to win the next 2 years. It's a joke, but what can anyone do about it?

This season Caitlin put up crazy numbers. NBA players like Kevin Durant took notice and talked about ONE female college player this season and it was Caitlin.

Caitlin was not only the 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year but she became the first women's Division I player to lead the country in both scoring (27.0 PPG) and assists (8.0 APG).

From ESPN: Boston averaged 16.8 points and 12.2 rebounds per game and recorded 27 consecutive double-doubles over the course of the season, propelling the Gamecocks to their fourth Final Four appearance and second in a row. She was tabbed this season's SEC Player of the Year and was named conference defensive player of the year three times.

The press has gone bonkers over Paige's 27 point performance against NC State, like it's an earth shaking event. Caitlin averages 27 points.

I was looking at recruits in the 6'3" range to compare with Crooks. Iowa State signed Jaylnn Bristow, a legit 6-3 player from Texas that can cover the floor like a guard, and with her height, post up for sure. She is remarkably athletic. Worth googling.

Is Boston the player who intentionally missed a bunny so she could get a rebound to keep her double double streak alive or was it someone else?

Those that has that gets. UConn is the media darling. If it's not East or West coast, Tennessee, Texas or Michigan, forget it.

Caitlyn also averaged nearly 5 turnovers per game which detracts from her overall play.

I'm not trying to argue that Clark shouldn't be the POY, but another angle to consider. It might be harder to put up those gaudy numbers if Clark was on a team full of 5 star recruits. And vice versa, if those other players played with the level of talent the Clark plays with, they would have to carry the team like Clark does and therefore put up the guady numbers. That's where I can see the best player on the best team argument.

Clark certainly deserved the award this year. Last year is a different story. Paige Beuckers was absolute money for UCONN hitting many key baskets including a couple spectacular game winners to lead the Huskies to the Final4. Auriemma is kind of a dickhead but he was spot on when he said that Beuckers has the "clutch gene". That is what has separated her and Clark last year.

She was responsible, directly (scoring) or indirectly (assists), for over half of the points scored by the 2nd highest scoring team in the NCAA.
