How the hell is that possible or did that happen, I am sorry but with that talent if Bo Ryan or Izzo coached those players they would win the national championship hands down. I am not sure who should win lots of possibilities Jacobsen, Ryan,Izzo,Few but damn not Calipari.

I agree. This is one of those times where I've a feeling they wish they could have voted after the Tournament.

If it were up to me I'd give it to Ryan or Coach K depending on Monday night.

I'd have given it to Brey or Jacobsen. Northern Iowa wasn't even a blip on anyone's radar when the season began.

One of those examples that says don't assume, it makes CALIPARI look like a slick car salesman, but in this case, a better version of Tom Crean.

Kentucky is a fantastic basketball team, if they play in a conference with a pulse there is no way they go undefeated.

The SEC sucks donkey balls when it comes to basketball.

Re: Calipari AP coach of the year

He's a recruiter, not a coach.

When the commentators quoted Calipari as saying he didn't scout Wisconsin, it was apparent.

That is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. You're in the final four and have plenty of time to scout your opponent and choose not to because you're just going to "play your game"?

So glad that idiot lost. Had he gameplanned for Wisconsin they probably win. Makes it even sweeter.

Here's all you need to know about the value and significance of this award: Todd Lickliter won it and Barta was fool enough to bring him to Iowa City, as if having the award actually meant the guy could coach. Many awards are nothing more than bad jokes. This national coach of the year award, again, is exactly that. Yes sir, Calipari right up there with Todd Lickliter. Well done.

I don't like Calipari at all but I do have to hand it to him to get all of these one and done players to play as well as they have. This year, they have been a solid defensive team and that can be hard with a bunch of freshmen and sophomores. I am amazed that his one and done teams have not imploded more often.

He is a rulebreaker. That has been proven by having to vacate two final fours in his coaching career but he is a solid coach, too. I am not saying that Jacobsen or Brey wouldn't have been good choices butI would rather he get the award then simply give it to somebody that had a surprising year.

In other news, Coach Fran was awarded the American Cancer Society's Champion Award today.

Link to any allegations brought against Calipari ?

I think Calipari was partly trying to pass himself off as John Wooden with the quote about not scouting Wisconsin. This was something Wooden famously said he did with his ridiculously talented teams: work on UCLA's play instead of working up a gameplan for the other team. But Calipari is laughably no Wooden. And his players don't appear to be willing to put in the effort that Wooden's teams did either. It's all about appearance for the fanbase and getting NBA teams to buy in and pay for it. To which I say, fair enough, if an immediate rather than long-term payoff is what the players want. However, as a fan of the game in general, I feel cheated that the product isn't as good as it could be on the college level and, because those players are going on, the NBA level.

Yes, Todd won the NABC trophy: aka the Coach's award. However, the AP/Media saw right through Todd's clever coaching charade and went with Tony Bennett at Washington State.
