Sounds to me like a rule put in place to protect team sports is in this instance harming individuals. I say prevent the team from earning points, but let the kids wrestle.

The problem is, I do not see anyway that the other kids should be penalized? Unless they all were somehow involved with signing the kid up to wrestle knowing that he was not eligible which does not seem likely or possible! What does wrestlers A, b, c etc... have to do with wrestler Z getting caught? I would sure like to hear more about this, but like you said. Seems like a rule that does not make any sense at all in regards to the other kids.

Just image it was at Big Ben's school. Here he is going for legendary greatness. OH wait, lil bobby was not eligible and now Ben you can not wrestle at states!?!?!?

Yea, obviously not a smart move by the coach. Do not want to throw him under the bus not knowing the whole situation, but not getting how the team has to suffer?

The coach tells you the whole situation. He knew they were ineligible but thought the punishment would only involve him. Throw him under the entire line of buses.
