Can’t wait for Truman State

Any distraction from football is welcome. It will be nice seeing Head Coach Jeff Horner on the sidelines.

Can't wait for the Lady Hawkeyes to kick things off as well.

And don't forget about Iowa wrestling, which has sold out their season tickets.

Carver Hawkeye Arena will be the place to be this fall and winter.

Monday night’s exhibition. We are going to catch them off guard. They will be looking beyond us to their Purdue game on Wednesday night and the Hawkeyes will pound the Bulldogs!
The basketball season can't get here soon enough. If our offense on the gridiron isn't bad enough, the drama on here about the football team is tiresome.....

It is kind of funny that Iowa basketball is consistently ranked as one of the best offenses in the country (often in top five) whereas the Iowa football team is well the opposite. So as Iowa fans we go from watching amazing defense and horrible offense to the opposite around this time of year. So bring on basketball season!

Who scores more points? The Iowa offense against Northwestern or Kris in the exhibition? My money is on Kris.

As least the Iowa basketball defense is not dead last out of 358 total D1 teams.

The Iowa football offense, unfortunately, is dead last ( #131 out of 131).

Iowa ended last season with the #4 offense & the #80 defense in the nation. Iowa, with some luck, could reach a Sweet 16 with a defense ranked #80 in the country. However, no team has made the Final Four in the last 11 years with a defense ranked worse than 70th in the nation. This did not bode well for Purdue (#89), Michigan (#78) and Miami (#123), who all advanced to the Sweet 16 in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Here are Iowa's finishes in Kenpom adjusted defense the past 4 years:

2019- 111
2020- 97
2021- 75
2022- 80

Out of 358 teams.

Somewhat unfortunately, another thing Tre Demps said after watching an iowa practice last week was that he wasn’t sure he saw the defensive intensity or effort they would need to get to the next level.

I hope Horner behaves himself this time and takes his pounding like a man. Last time he was here he didn't represent himself very professionally, in my opinion.

He's not very professional. Loved him at Iowa but I've heard there's not a lot of his players that enjoy playing for him.
