I might have the spelling wrong. In the mid 1990's UIHC hired this guy that I recall was named Dr. Bottles to be the new head big shot Boss.

He held meeting after meeting with all the departments, one at a time. When my department got to listen to him he said stuff like:

1) I ran a hospital in San Francisco and we were one of eleven, or 4,000 I don't remember, hospitals in the area and we all had to compete or close.

2) If the UIHC can't compete (with who?) it will close.

3) Prepare to suffer as I make your lives hell! (Ok, that was paraphrased worse than the rest...but...the idea was real.)

Anyway, I don't think he lasted long? I don't know...can anyone fill in the details a bit?

Kent Bottles. He was in pathology during the 90s. He was at UCSF before that. His CV was a big embellished as I recall.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe if the big scare he caused ended up not so much...maybe this new U of I President won't turn out so bad.
