I have seen some on here who really like this kid but I have not had a chance to see him myself. What kind of player is he? Shooter, slasher, distributor? Thanks.

I've only seen highlights on the local sports/news. Small and quick slasher, scorer and distributor..... not sure about his shot or how he would measure up against top flight competition.
I'm no scout but between watching his last game and reading other opinions, his shooting and shot selection need to improve as well as playing more under control. He's definitely got the skills to drive and get a defense to collapse on him, better court awareness to find that open guy should come. Would have been better to see him being defended by Iowa City west Lane or a Carton since most guards in the state of Iowa would struggle to stay in front of him. Found stats for 23 games...25.6pts, 38.8% 3pt, 44.4% fg, 83.8% ft, 167 asts, 69 stls with 87 TOs. He did turn it over 7 times in that game I watched against Valley with only 1 ast and 2 stls, 1-5 from 3. Not his best game but still 18pts in a 2 pt loss against defending state champs while North was there for 1st time in 26 yrs iirc.
He's playing with Mokan's 16U Elite team this summer in AAU, so we'll find out pretty soon how he plays against top competition. If he does well, he could blow up. Personally, I have some doubts - he's lightning quick, but awfully small and I've heard some rumblings about his attitude. But I would love to be wrong about that, and it's important to remember that he's still only a sophomore in high school - he could easily become a top recruit.
But long story short, I think Fran (as well as other major conference schools - I know he's been up to ISU a couple of times) are taking a wait and see approach until at least this summer before extending an offer.
Yes, that's the other thing. He complained to the refs ALOT in that game. Most every turnover or foul, he was headed towards the ref complaining. That was one game so whatever that's worth.
and that is something that he will need to stop doing obviously but he is a teenager ... he will get that knocked out of him with good coaching...assuming his HS coach doesnt allow it.

Don't count on that happening. I have a friend that coaches a different sport there and he isn't hugely impressed with how their coach handles the players. Seems to be a bit too much of he wants to be liked instead of being hard on the kids. He knows Tyreke's brother pretty well, and it sounds like his brother would like the coach to come down on him a bit more, too much of a free hand on the court.
My son has played against him a few times (maybe 8-10 games) in AAU and summer/fall league. He's not very big, maybe 5'9-10, but he is lightning quick. Fantastic handles, can make good defenders look slow and bad. Can get to the rim at will many times. Gets into a groove where he almost craves assists, he'll pass up shots/lanes to accumulate assists (sometimes get a bit too flashy, too). His shot selection (other than drives) leaves a bit to be desired, but not horrible. However, his shot outside of about 15 feet isn't great. He has a bit of a funky hitch in his shot which looks like part of the problem, whatever it is, it doesn't look repeatable consistently.
Defensively, he can be great when he wants to be. Good awareness, body position, quickness, reads, all of it. However, he doesn't always seem to have the desire. That's where my issue with his attitude is. He doesn't seem like a bad kid, my son likes him, says he's always been cool to him. But he doesn't always seem to have the drive or motivation to play hard all of the time. I honestly haven't seen him in a situation where there's much team defense being played, so I don't know how well he fits into team concepts.
If he can get his head on straight, understand that he has to play hard all of the time, he could very well be a HM PG, even at his size. I can say this, right now, as a SO in HS he'd be one of the quickest players in the B1G, and he has the handles, court vision and passing to go along. He is not a consistent 3pt threat at this point. I saw on Quik Stats that he shot 33% from 3 this year, I'm mildly surprised it was that high. Keep in mind, he had an almost 2:1 assist:TO ratio as a SO on a good 4A team. He averaged almost 7 apg, which is really high (he was 2nd in 4A) for a HS kid, let alone a SO playing in the CIML. That's to go along with a 25ppg average.
If he can get the work ethic he'd need at that level, I'd take him on the Hawks in a heartbeat, the physical tools are there.
I've seen him play several times in AAU and this is how I would describe him. Except the shot. I haven't seen him enough to know if his shot has improved vs good night/bad night. He's quick. My nephew has played against Locure in the Metro. He and my brother say he's very quick, small, can score. His shot was poor but has been improving.

Those free throw and 3 point numbers actually look pretty good for a small sophomore point guard playing in the CIML.
His 3pt% on Quik Stats is 32.9% (46 of 140). But still, everything else is really good for a SO playing 4A.
Yep, and you can't teach elite quickness. If he can shoot well enough to keep defenders from backing off to stop the drive, he becomes very, very valuable.
Agreed. He doesn't need to be able to shoot 40+% from 3, he just needs to shoot well enough to keep the defense honest. That should allow him to be able to penetrate and finish/dish/kick, all of which he does very, very well.
If he were 6'3" he would have a number of D1 offers right now.
If any good player were 6 inches taller they would likely have D1 offers.
If his Free Throw percentage is as high as they say I'd bet a big part of his three point shooting will improve with just natural increased strength as he gets older.
