i know the NFL tweaked it’s catch rule, so after UNIs second TD wasn’t reviewed I thought maybe NCAA had too. So I looked it up - not because I’m pissed we gave up 14 instead of 7 or 10, but just for future reference.
Anyway...
Airborne receiver A85 grasps a forward pass and in the process of going to the ground, first contacts the ground with his left foot inbounds as he falls to the ground out of bounds. Immediately upon A85 hitting the ground out of bounds, the ball comes loose. RULING: Incomplete pass regardless of whether or not the ball hits the ground because the receiver is out of bounds.
So clearly NOT a catch, but good for that kid getting a TD in Kinnick - is he an Iowa kid?
Follow up question, typically in garbage time do the replay officials just relax and stop reviewing things? I honestly can’t remmeber
