CBS eyeing a new Star Trek series?

Nothing official yet, but there are lots of reports of people in Hollywood whispering about it. The most commonly themed one surrounds Tim Russ (Tuvok), taking an indie film he directed and making a series out of it. Supposedly it would be multi-generational.
Next year is the 50th anniversary of the first series hitting the airwaves. There will also be the latest big screen edition in 2016. That would be a great dynamic for a new series to be released into.

I'm not a fan, full disclosure, but what's up with making the characters (i.e. mountain ridge on forehead dude) so ugly that you can't either ridicule or look at them? Can't be good for viewership. That's all I got, will hang up and listen.
