As relatively meaningless as these relationships are in the big picture of the world....even for folks who typically wouldn't give one good gosh darn about such things, there are a few such splits that make you say, "wow."

In general....but ESPECIALLY in the world of big-time Hollywood types...when some married couple hits the double-digit mark, you do start to think, "Hey, maybe these crazy kids are gonna go the distance." So when one of those relationships collapses, it's natural to greet the news with some measure of surprise (though any level of "shock" at such happenings in the world of entertainment/sports/politics/celebrity would, by most people's reckoning, be naive at best and disingenuous at worst).

Anyway, most folks would probably agree that the Pitt-Aniston kerfuffle will likely remain atop the "most surprising" list for many years to come. But this latest one, along with a few others, including (but not limited to) Willis-Moore, Sarandon-Robbins, Banderas-Griffith, and The Governator-Maria Shriver, are right up there because by big shot celebrity standards, they seemed absolutely unshakable, and then with little or no warning....poof.
