I am really surprised at the pushback against the OP. Sure, it's more important to have smart policies than smart pronunciation. But the boat sailed on smart policies when the president who mispronounced "nuclear" was in office.

Occasionally I hear someone who is actually smart say "nukular." It's always a bit of a shock.

Agreed...Jimmy Carter could not pronounce nuclear to save his soul and he did a lot of really stupid things. Horrible president.
