Indiana played away games in two of the toughest road environments. Play those games in Bloomington or at a neutral site and were having a different discussion.

Having said that, I would like to see incentives for playing meaningful non-conference games. Although Kirk Ferentz wouldn't like that as it would further expose him.

What he said is true and always had been. Army won 11 games this year even if they beat navy, won 12, they were not getting in. Herbie is certainly an SEC blowhard but what he is saying isn't ground breaking.

I'm going to make a very Un Iowa fan comment, I watched the west get blown out enough in Indy to know the actual 2nd best, and usually 3rd, we're coming from the east or leaders or whatever the hell it was called.

WTH, Kirk! Good grief, he was once one of my favorite CFB analysts. Now he's just an e$ECpn shill. It started with us, now it's propagated across the rest of the country this idea that wins no longer matter:

Yep, he used to be well reasoned. Now he’s a complete fvcking clown and his main job at ESPN is to suck the SEC dick as hard as possible. Fvck him.

The SEC bias of ESPN is the main reason I stopped watching their networks about 10 years ago. I only watch live games anymore and mute the halftime commentary. I don’t miss it at all. Too many talking heads with horrible takes.

Dude's an asshole.

This was my point the other day as to why it would be tough for Iowa to get into the CFP. There is no chance they are leaving the Alabamas out next year. They had to hide the SEC bias this year because of how they screwed over FSU last year.

FSU will need to win the ACC to get in, and I think Iowa has to finish at least top 2 in the Big 10. Maybe top 3.

They’re going all in on the SEC next year.

Iowa making the playoffs will not be easy, or common. But dude, the B1G and SEC are both getting their 3-4 teams in no matter what. And when it goes to 16(it will 100%) then Iowas path gets even easier. You better hope FSU gets into either the B1G or SEC.

It's a really shitty conundrum. The CFP committee desperately needs a transparent system as to why teams are ranked where they are. People will argue wins, they'll argue SOS, they'll argue adjusted stat rankings, and they'll even argue the made up metrics such as "they eye test." But they won't tell us exactly what it takes to be in and out.

But that isn't dramatic and does't get clicks and views. So, they will never do it. The less confidence there is in the system the more money it makes for ESPN. We have NIL, open transfers, and now a playoff system no one has confidence in.

It can't sustain itself.

IMO if it goes to 16, the conference champ and runner up of each P4 should get invited. The highest ranking G5 champ. That makes 9 teams. Then 7 at large. That way each P4 gets at least 2 teams without the fear of being knocked out of the playoffs by losing an extra game.

Then seed them by CFP ranking.

Are you sure? The shit Kirk talked about how weak of a schedule Indiana plays is not helpful to the B1G. Kirk would suck Sankey off on live tv if it meant getting more SEC teams in.

Meh, as long as the flow of money doesn't dry up, college football will always be fine, despite all the warts.

Also, Kirk is just a better paid version of Paul Finebaum.

I made some facebook post in 2011 about ESPN helping the BCS **** over Okie State for Alabama. Each year my facebook memory will show me that post and it just feels like it rings true every year. Some team is getting ****ed over just so Alabama can get in.

What sucks the most is no one will remember Indiana losing by the most narrow margin out of the 4 games, but they lost 1st so that's what people will remember.

Tennessee took a bigger ass kicking by a lower seeded team than Indiana did….

It’s bs these SEC shills just leave the Tennessee ass whoopin out of their equation

I’m certain the B1G will get at least 3 teams in with 12 slots. When it goes to 16 B1G will get 4 minimum. You disagree?

That’s just it, they lost by 10 at Notre Dame. People act like they got blown out, well by people I mean ESPN pundits.
