Major calendar changes coming in college hoops: Spring and summer overhaul, more time away for mental health
CBS Sports obtained a memo outlining the biggest makeover of the college basketball calendar in a very long time

Interesting article from Matt Norlander, about some of the proposed changes to the recruiting calendar for men's hoops.
TLDR highlights:
- Portal window shortened from 60 days to 30 days.
- Multiple proposals for when portal opens: most likely option is opening portal window after Elite 8.
- No live AAU recruiting weekends in April so coaches can focus on portal
- Move spring live evaluation period to end of May
- Shorten June "scholastic" (high school teams) live evaluation periods to one, 5-day period
- Shorten July AAU live eval period to two back-to-back 4-day weekends. Proposal for the last live period to be a return to having all events in Vegas to reduce travel.
- Increase "dead" period in August
- Dead periods for every major holiday in spring and summer including Mother's and Father's Day
- Also a proposal for a true "Blackout" period where coaches would not be allowed any contact to recruits (currently dead periods still allow calls + texts).
