Just spoke with 2016 PG Charlie Moore about his visit to Iowa today. He just finished up on the visit and said he had a great time. He really liked the campus and had a chance to sit down with Coach McCaffery and the rest of the coaching staff and they watched some film and showed him how their point guard runs the offense. They were also selling him on the idea that it could be his job next year.
Moore said the Iowa players ran a bit of an open gym today and he was able to watch that and liked the way that Gesell and Clemmons are allowed to push the ball, but be under control. He said he also spent some time with Brandon Hutton, who he knows from Chicago.
Moore is headed out to the Nike Basketball Academy later this month. It's the same event that Jarrod Uthoff is headed to in California. He's really blessed to have that opportunity to compete against the best players there.
I asked him about comparing his recent visit to Illinois with Iowa today and he said he's really not doing that. They were both great and likes both of them. He said he won't be making any more visits this summer because of his AAU schedule. Will see where things stand at the end of July in terms of offers and then start scheduling official visits for the fall. I asked him if Iowa would be getting an official and he said yes.
