Talking about one hell of a loaded stars on this roster especially at RB/FB... and to think this team went 6-4-3, three damn ties killed them that year and then they blew it in the Peach Bowl against NC STATE..

That team was light years beyond a typical ferentz team. Some of you get way too hung up on records. Their schedule was significantly tougher that year. Ferentz would never face that kind of schedule

You may have an argument about perceived scheduling differences, but you picked a terrible year to try and make it with.

The teams we played went 66-78-8 combined, we lost at Hawaii and even settled for a tie with a below average 4-6-1 Ohio State. Whipping a winless Kansas State wasn't exactly impressive either (we actually dropped two spots in the poll after beating them). Statistically, other than 1997, it ranked as the worst Strength of Schedule in Fry's entire tenure. And other than 2007 and 2014, it was worse than any for Ferentz either. Incidentally, last years SOS was the highest we've had since Cummings first year in 1974 for those that would complain about scheduling.

What are you talking about? The only rated team on Iowa's entire schedule that year was Michigan @ # 15. We tied M, MSU and tO$U that year. One of the worst O$U teams in history ( 4 - 6 - 1 ) and MUS was 6 - 5 -1. We lost to Indiana and Hawaii for crying out loud. Wisconsin was still sh^t @ 1 - 10 as was NW 2 - 8 -1 and we only beat a 5 - 6 Iowa State team 10 - 3 at Kinnick. Three solid teams on the schedule that year and we lost to two ( Colorado 8 - 4 and NC State 8 - 3 - 1 and tied Michigan ( 9 - 2 - 1 ).

Edit : Indiana was better than I remembered and finished rated # 20. Not rated when we played them however.

Be careful, might upset the KF haters and revisionists with logical and objective stats

We didn't have much "diversity" in our receiving corps that year.

Also, HawkAlum, where did the 2000 season rank for Ferentz? They faced an OOC schedule of a combined 39-11 record, with 3 of 4 teams finishing ranked, including Nebraska, who was #1 at the time we played them.
Even if the overall schedule was not the toughest, that OOC schedule certainly ranks among the tops and rivals just about anything Iowa faced going back decades.

The top three hardest SOS for Kirk were last year, 1999, and 2000.
