Chet Holmgren will miss the 2022-2023 season with a Lisfranc injury to his right foot.

The No. 2 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, suffered the injury in a Pro-Am game in Seattle on Saturday.

I'm neither for nor against Holmgren. But I can understand the fragility question being an issue with him. Wonder if the OKC staff are second guessing their decision?

Not sure why they allow participation in these pro-ams

Apparently there were court issues as well (moisture). Granted, his injury did not see to be related to the court issue.

This story brings up the pre-draft concern that he came into the draft at 7 feet, 195 lbs.

Watching Skip and Shannon and they said that defense in these Pro-Ams is "optional", but Chet, being new, decided to hard guard LeBron. Unfortunate. Hate to see it.

The play would have been a break away dunk by Lebron , but despite having poor position & back pedaling, Holmgren decided to slide in front of him. Lebron could have “posterized” Chet, but stepped right and laid it up. Chet got his feet tied up & a did little dance. Time out.

I hear Liz-frank is not chronic...tyler Lindebaum had similar injury in the bowl game last year.
Maybe it will give Chet a year to work on his body and it will help him in the long run?

AND its the reason he's been out a good part of pre season this year, so.........

At least he is set for life already.

Chet signed a 4 year, fully guaranteed, $44,889,248 contract.

In 2022-23, Holmgren will earn $9,891,240.
It’s two years guaranteed with two club options for the last two… but yeah he’s gonna like the 20m

It’s crazy this kid is so skinny when his dad was never a svelte one. Really could hamper his career.

Bill Walton had foot problems also. Started off the court but plagued him throughout his career.
Yeah bill least had success with the blazers early on and had that last good season with the 86’ Celtics team that won it all where he won 6th man of the year. But had a lot of games and seasons cut short between the two.

Embiid got over his and I don't think Holmgren has a history but I could be mistaken. Let's not over react too early

Tyler is struggling with the same injury again this fall. All reports it is not as serious as he is expected to be out just a couple of weeks.

It was a gamble with Holmgren. He should have stayed in college and developed psychically.

Why? Isn't the point of college to prepare you for your career? Isn't Holmgren going to make more than all of us combined in his career? Seems like he was ready.

He could very well come back and have no issues.

Are there any others that have been injured, other than Chet?
Not sure if this is is what you are asking, but Shaedon Sharp, the number 7 pick by Portland, suffered a tear in his labrum in the very first minutes of the first summer league game and didn't play again. This may be a minor injury that will be totally healed by the time the NBA season begins. Unfortunately, Chet's won't be, which is unfortunate. He is a rather unique player in the league and I was looking forward to how well he succeeded.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Hate to see guys who are starting out get hurt.

My point. Bulk up, develop and psychical conditioning is the bodies best friend. Multiple contracts are much better. He may be too frail to stand the rigors of the NBA. As an owner would you risk a chunk of a franchise?

Yeah, what an idiot to leave school for $44 million guaranteed...

JFC. That's why I don't come over here. The issue is not why he wouldn't leave college ball for the big bucks. It's why would a franchise would risk a fortune for on spindly questionable player. Haha fivecard idiot.

But that is not what you said that my post responded to. I responded to: "It was a gamble with Holmgren. He should have stayed in college and developed psychically." Certainly that was a gamble for the NBA, but the second sentence stated what Holmgren should have done, not what the NBA should have done.

Holmgren was thought to be ready for the NBA by a slew of media types and, obviously in his own mind. Maybe during his foot rehab, he can also work on developing the rest of his body. He's a talented player, but as we know, not every talented player succeeds at that level.
