The Chicago Bears beat Kansas City Chiefs today by only
1 point. They had their 3 best receivers injured and never
in the game, plus 2 offensive linemen starters not able to play.

Coach Fox has instilled a mental toughness in this squad.
They now have 2 wins and 3 losses as they prepare to face
the Detroit Lions next week. The Bears may not have the
best talent on the field, but they are playing to win and not
lose.

Both of the Chicago Bears wins this season have come
in the last 30 seconds of the game. That is really mental
toughness.

Go Bears. Need a high draft pick to start restocking talent but if they win some more games let's just make the playoffs.

The coaching staff has made a huge difference. You can tell the defense is stepping up and improving every week. The offense is challenged with a lack of healthy talent at WR, and a make shift o-line, and Martellus Bennet had a bad case of the dropsies today.
There is hope for the future. The composure Cutler showed on the final touchdown was amazing. The staff is making players accountable, and making them better. I'd be shocked if they make it to 7 wins, however. 5-6 wins is more realistic for this year.

Cutler looked good today with that group of WRs and OL. Def looked good with two rookie S's starting with 1 being an undrafed FA.. Still not putting them down for more than 5 or 6 wins but they do play hard

The Defensive Coordinator has been a 100% improvement
over last year. John Fox as head coach brings some gravitas
to the position after 2 years of Marc Trestman and his little
"Tool Box" of offensive plays and his philosophy of making men..

..On this Columbus Day, 2015, there are 9 NFL teams
who have a worse record than the Chicago Bears.

I'd say Andy Reid neutering his playcalling once Charles went down had more to do with the Bears winning than anything else. Reid went all 4 corners Dean Smith style the rest of the game. The Bears smelled blood as a result.

Where was this newfound mental toughness in all their losses?

Cutty was injured for 1.5 of them and the other was against the packers. Their 3 loses all came against teams with 11 or more wins last year

Cutler played well against Green Bay, and was playing well before he got hurt against Arizona.

Bears are gonna get just enough wins to keep them from getting a top QB in the draft but not enough wins to actually get excited about the season.

Which is good because there arent any top QB in this draft.
I watched the top QB in the next draft throw 5 picks Saturday night. Cutler does just enough good things that make me want to hold onto him, because they aren't going to get somebody better, and draft another position of need...and there are a lot of those.

Unless you see an Andrew Luck type QB out there to draft, they might as well stick with Jay. If we can keep Gase around for another year, that would be a good thing.

Amen to that, Tom.

Its amazing how many bears fans want the team to tank to get the #1 pick. For the bears to lose 13+ games there would have to be a very significant lack of talent on the roster. Teams with #1 picks dont jump up the standing very quickly (unless you get a Luck)

The only reason I am watching the games on Sunday is to see if Ryan Pace can evaluate talent. Angelo/Emery were horrible at finding players who could play. If a GM is good at their job they can find a good QB without having a top pick. Right now, the Defensive players that Pace have found undrafted are doing better then 3rd round Emery draft picks.

McPhee and Jenkings have been good signings too.

I was under the impression that Connor Cook was the top QB in the draft.

The McPhee signing is looking like a steal. I wouldn't mind seeing if they could get another 5th or 6th rounder for Willie Young. he did have a sack on Sunday and had double digit last year but just doesn't look comfortable in the 3-4. I think Lamar Houston is playing himself back into form and Christian Jones looks pretty good so their LB core has actually played well. Secondary still needs some play makers but the team is playing better than I thought they would - especially with their top three WR's and a couple of starters on the OL out.

A good o-line covers up a lot of weaknesses elsewhere on a roster. Yes, you need good skill players...but for years the Bears o-line has continuously been in shambles.

I'd start there if I were them. I know their defense has needs galore...but you just plain must have a good line to accomplish anything in today's NFL.

Andy Reid also needs to take that advise. It made the Bears' defense look good yesterday. He got ran out of town in Philly because his o-line sucked badly late in his term there. He just doesn't place much stock in spending money on his o-line.

Welcome to life as a Texans fan!

Oh no a couple years ago you guys sucked major and got the #1 pick and blew it on Clowney instead of getting a quarterback. You had your chance...

Coulda had Bridgewater, coulda had Carr. . . (Wouldn't it have been funny if you had drafted Carr??)

Now you can't decide who sucks more Hoyer or Mallet.

BTW I'm a Colts fan and I hate to trash talk, but we just beat you guys in your house with a 40 year old backup QB who was so sick he was getting IV's instead of going to practice. So when you guys going to break our NFL record streak? Because honestly if you can't beat Indy in that situation, what is it gonna take?

To be fair the way things are going in Houston you might get your chance again. . . you should call your GM and tell him to try not to blow it this time.

Didnt the Texans also draft Mario Williams with the #1 overall pick one year?

True but that turned out to be a good decision. Mario Williams became a good D-lineman. Clowney has yet to record an NFL sack. Clowney had bust written all over him when his own coach wouldn't vouch for his work ethic. But he got picked #1 overall anyways because he hit that Michigan RB really hard.

Completely wrong. NFL gms don't draft guys bc of one play. His combine numbers were off the charts for a guy his size. Now if you want to claim GMs reach based on combine performance I'm with you. Clowney was the pick there though. You don't pass on a defensive end with his potential unless an elite qb prospect is sitting there and there wasn't that year.

The only combine number that was off the chart for his position was his 40 time. The rest where good, but not "off the chart". Too bad pass rushers typically have to beat a blocker and don't run in a straight line towards the QB.

He was picked #1 overall cause he hit that Michigan RB really hard and the media and GM's filled in reasons to think he was elite afterwards. Without that play he's maybe a 3rd round pick. He had 3 sacks his last year of college football. Now I'm told that he was trying to avoid injury or whatever and was phoning it in. If that's true I'm not sure how that's any better then his own being vastly overrated causing him to fail to get to the QB.

And when reports came out that he's lazy and his own coach in an interview wouldn't vouch for his work ethic it was just written off and everyone said that JJ Watt would straighten him out. How in the world does any GM or serious NFL fan write off work ethic concerns?? Work ethic is the difference between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf.

Still hasn't recorded a single sack even while being lined up opposite JJ Watt. Couldn't even get to a 40 year old quarterback dealing with a major illness playing behind a questionable O-line.
