Two young boys are safe Sunday night because of their big sister, and the toddlers' parents are locked up, facing three counts of felony child abuse.

The parents are accused of locking up the boys, a 2- and 4-year-old, in a bedroom, naked and without food and water. They reportedly did this every day while they went to work.

The incident occurred at a mobile home near 132nd and Maple streets.

Martha Navarro, 33, and Venancio Vazquez, 37, were arraigned Friday, according to court documents. A criminal complaint filed outlines each count against the adults. According to the complaint, between March and June 2015 they did "knowingly and intentionally cause or permit a minor child to be placed in a situation that endangers his or her life of physical or mental health.

You got a 9-year-old that probably had to babysit them when she got home from school and she didn't know what to do and finally got tired of it, I guess, and turned them in," Smith said.

Police went to the home and said they smelled urine and feces all over the floor.

"Police went to that location, heard children inside, then broke down the door and found exactly what they were told they were going to find," Douglas County attorney Don Kleine said. "That was the 2- and 4-year-old locked in a room with a chain on the door, without any clothing or any supervision, without anything. The conditions were something you would not leave an animal in."

According to the couple's daughter, that's how they left the young boys every day during the school year.

"It's hard to imagine someone doing that, let alone somebody's parents doing it," Kleine said.

Why, why in the hell did I open this thread after seeing the title? I still think about that 3-year-old that was tortured to death in Pennsylvania, and that had to have been 6+ months ago.

Thank goodness these two were rescued.

The Duggers would never allow anything like this to happen, would they? Maybe a little 'touchy-feely' action, but that certainly pales in comparison to these monsters.
