China has begun mandating military training for HS kids

Heard that this morning on the news. Seems like something we should probably worry about.

I'm not sure it's that big of a concern. Thing to keep in mind is demographics are not China's friend right now. They ran with a one child policy for decades so now they have an aging population. Their population is massive but most are too old for military service.

At the same time China's finally got a bit of money now so they also want to pretend they are a rival to the US for superpower status. Tough to do that if they can't fill out the ranks of their military.
