Enjoyed listening to Chuck Long speak at an event at TCI in Des Moines yesterday. His two best memories were The Freedom Bowl against Texas (The Fry Bowl). A game Hayden being from Texas dearly wanted to win and win we did. The other was the bootleg play that beat MSU in 1985. Trivia question was; who was playing DB for MSU and who was their DC?
His favorite moment was when Rob Haughtlin kicked the winning field goal against Michigan. Guess I can't disagree on any of them.
It was also interesting how he was recruited and had Iowa not called his life would have been a whole lot different. His High School team was a run type offense and hardly threw the ball. Loved his character, very willing to chat, take pictures and sign autographs.
