(CNN)Cindy McCain, the widow of longtime Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, said Tuesday night on Twitter that she endorses Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The endorsement follows McCain's appearance in a video about Biden's relationship with her late husbandat the Democratic National Convention in August.

McCain offered her endorsement on Twitter after Biden had told donors she was supporting him.

"My husband John lived by a code: country first. We are Republicans, yes, but Americans foremost. There's only one candidate in this race who stands up for our values as a nation, and that is @JoeBiden," she said in a series of tweets.

"Joe and I don't always agree on the issues, and I know he and John certainly had some passionate arguments, but he is a good and honest man. He will lead us with dignity," she said. "He will be a commander in chief that the finest fighting force in the history of the world can depend on, because he knows what it is like to send a child off to fight."

Biden tweeted in reply, "Cindy — I'm deeply honored to have your support and your friendship. This election is bigger than any one political party. It requires all of us to come together as one America to restore the soul of the nation. Together, we'll get it done."

I’m just here to watch some posters make asses out of themselves by besmirching a man who has more heroism and integrity in his pinky than they will ever have because he dared question his party.
His ‘integrity’ is a matter of public record: and quite subjective too, apparently.

Is there some way to re-tweet this to every person who has a Twitter account in Arizona? That would be fun.

In other news today, George W. Bush and his brother Jeb Bush
will be voting for Joe Biden in November. The Bush Dynasty has
utter contempt for President Trump. They feel that Trump
humiliated Jeb in the 2016 GOP primaries.

Rage tweets against Cindy calling her the loser wife of a loser in 3...2...1... Followed swiftly by Kayleigh McEnany saying Trump has the utmost respect for veterans, and the media published his tweets without the proper context.

It's a sad day for America when the widow of a prominent, conservative US Senator feels compelled to publicly endorse Joe Biden.

Because why, exactly?

Perhaps Cindy has transcended the need to use labels such as “liberal” or “conservative” and has opted to endorse the most decent human being.

That's exactly my point. Cindy McCain and Joe Biden are not aligned politically/philosophically, but the alternative is so abhorrent that she feels the need to endorse him.

Ah. That makes sense to a degree.

I’d like to see it as a sign of small hope. I know my personal history of voting based on party affiliation has changed over the past 4 years. I’m now voting for the person, not the party.

Trump said POW's aren't heroes, referring to John McCain. There's never been any doubt Cindy McCain would endorse the Dem nominee, no matter what.

If you were undecided, would W's endorsement of Biden make a difference to you?
If I liked W, maybe.

Let's face it, if you haven't decided by now, you are probably dumb and ignorant.

It would be hard for either of us to put ourselves in those shoes, because we make an effort to be informed. But I'm guessing that people who don't make an effort to be informed are more likely to be influenced by such endorsements.
