Calipari willing to pay him more.

Ha! I am sure he has NEVER done anything like that. I am sure he is Mr. Clean.

I don't know who posted it, but a couple weeks ago someone said there were roughly 30% of players going into the transfer portal. That's insane and not good for the future of college sports.

That being said, I'm excited to see more of Toussaint, Perkins, Ulis, and finally see Kris Murray on the floor for extended periods (I think he is going to be really good). Add in Keegan Murray and Patrick McCaffery, who both showed they belong in the Big Ten. Say what you will about Connor (what you see is what you get). Sandfort, Ogundele, and Mulvey are the wild-cards. I'm optimistic about Sandfort and Mulvey, and hopeful about Ogundele.

It'd be interesting if this pushes Wieskamp to stay since he would definitely be the go-to guy in the lineup.

I think Weezy coming back would be a mistake on his part. Defenses would key on him and he could struggle getting looks. If so, he’d fall even further in the draft. His best shot at the NBA is now.

Agreed. The NCAA needs to get the transfer rules shored up. Right now you can bolt a school, go to another one and be eligible immediately. This has to change or the game will be ruined.
As proposed, players should be allowed a one time transfer and be immediately eligible. Coaches break contracts all the time, leaving the players they recruited high and dry. Why punish a player for a decision they made at age 17 or 18? In recent years it got to be a joke. One player gets a waiver to play, the next one doesn’t.

Yep, if they do something about transfers they should restrict coaches leaving

I believe a player a transfer should lose a year of eligibility unless there are circumstances that would allow the player to transfer without penalty. A coach leaving the player's school could be one of those circumstances.

  • Justin Fields: Transferred from Georgia to Ohio State because he knew he wasn’t going to supplant Jake Fromm as the starting quarterback. Waiver – approved.
  • Tate Martell: Transferred from Ohio State to Miami because he knew Justin Fields was getting the job. Waiver – approved.
  • Brock Hoffman: Transferred from Coastal Carolina to Virginia Tech to be near his mother who had just undergone brain surgery to have a tumor removed. Waiver – denied.
  • Luke Ford: Transferred from Georgia to Illinois to be near his ailing grandparents and so that his grandfather could see him play in person before he passed away. Waiver – denied (twice).
These are “student-athletes”, not pros. Does a trumpet player who transfers from one college to another have to sit out a year? Absolutely not. The problem with waivers was that the NCAA didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Coaches who are making millions of dollars ought to be able to effectively manage their rosters. More times than they will ever admit, many coaches “run off” players who they may have missed the boat on. Players deserve the same when they pick a coach and discover they made a mistake.
