I am not going to go all conspiracy theory on anyone but to my untrained eye, CJ looked A LOT less mobile on Saturday. Maybe he just wasn't pushing it but he didn't look like he had that quickness he showed at other times. Maybe I'm just being crazy?

Hmmm, I was thinking the same thing at times but it sure didn't affect his throwing too much. Maybe others who watched pre game warmups, drills, etc can chime in.

I think they're trying to keep him healthy by not letting him run much. Plus he hasn't really needed to. although that knee brace doesn't help.

I did have the same thought Saturday night--that he looked slower when trying to run. Of course, on at least one of those plays, he was holding up a football and still trying to throw it, which has a tendency to slow one down.

I think all the nuggets brought up here are likely contributors. His surgical need has slowed his recovery. The coaches don't want him to take risks, hence the knee brace that slows him further.

I doubt we see CJB make as many plays with his feet as we did last year. With that said, he's looked outstanding in the first two games. Virtually every pass he's thrown has been right where he wanted it to go. If he keeps playing like this, we won't need him to make any plays with his feet.

He was limping a bit on the last series that he was in on Saturday, guessing he's got an ongoing/nagging issue with his left(?) knee. Looked like the coaches saw it, ran the ball the rest of the series, punted and took him out. (I'm just guessing that's what they did since that's what it looked like, don't actually know though.) They kept him in one series too long on Saturday.

My guess is he'll be 100% ready to go each week but it's going to be something that doesn't go away any time soon.. either way like the prior poster said, he's on fire throwing the ball, so I'm hoping we don't run him too much at all unless totally necessary.

Agree that I want him to throw as the #1 option but we went 12-0 last year because he could throw and run when needed. Iowas offense needs their QB to be able to take off.

I agree that we're so much tougher to defend when he's a threat to run, especially considering our receiving corps isn't going to frighten anyone.. but I also watched Cam Newton last Thursday get pulverized into the ground taking hit after hit.

IMO the benefit we get from CJB running isn't worth the risk of losing him completely from taking damage when running, which the chances of that happening when you run the ball as a QB 4, 5, 6 times a game really aren't all that slim. It's almost guaranteed the more he runs that he's going not going to last. It definitely wasn't a coincidence that he was basically falling apart by the end of last season. He's not really built to take punishment like that. He's built to sling TDs.

I don't think he's 100% from the groin surgery let alone anything else. When I saw him interviewed awhile back about the surgery he could have said "I'm 100%!" but did not, which to me was telling and not what I wanted to hear. Sure others say he's 100% but unless I'm mistaken, C.J. has not.

Anyone that's had ortho surgery will usually say they don't really feel completely 100% until about one year after the surgery. I know that's been the case with all of my surgeries.

he did some great things with his feet last year...but no need to risk it when you're putting teams away in the 1st quarter
Just throw it away

Get a close game in 4th qt he will run but I agree he doesn't look normal I thought he had a good limp in the Ohio game
